Hey everyone! I wanted to share a little peek into a recent makeup session with my amazing friend. We were having so much fun trying out new ideas, but we didn't quite get to finish the look – either we ran out of time, or we were just enjoying the creative process so much that we wanted to keep experimenting! You know how it is when you’re doing makeup for a friend; it’s less about perfection and more about bonding and trying new things together. So, why is it 'not finished'? Well, sometimes life happens! Maybe we started later than planned, or we got sidetracked chatting and laughing, which is totally fine. Other times, it's a deliberate choice. We might have nailed the base, eyes, and brows, but we're still debating the perfect lip color or whether to add a touch of glitter. It’s all part of the fun! When you're doing makeup for a friend and find yourself in an 'unfinished' situation, here are a few tips I've learned: Prioritize Key Features: If you're short on time, focus on the most impactful elements. A flawless base, well-defined brows, and a pop on the eyes (liner or mascara) can make a huge difference even without a full contour or elaborate lip. My friend and I always make sure these are done first. Communicate Constantly: Always ask your friend what they like and what they envision. It’s their face, after all! Even if the look isn't complete, they should feel comfortable and happy with the progress. We often pause to check in the mirror and discuss what's next. Hygienic Habits are a Must: When sharing products or doing makeup on someone else, always use clean brushes and applicators. Sanitize liquid products, and use disposable wands for mascara and lip gloss. This is super important, finished or not! Embrace the Process: Sometimes the most cherished memories are made during the 'getting ready' phase. Don't stress too much about the final product. The laughter, the experimentation, and the shared excitement are what truly matter. An 'unfinished' look can sometimes be wonderfully unique and authentic. Plan for 'Phase Two': If you know you might not finish, decide on the core elements you want to complete, and save the more experimental or time-consuming parts (like intricate eyeliner or complex blending) for another session. You can always tell your friend, "This is just phase one of your glam!" For this particular look with my friend, we got a beautiful smoky eye going and perfected her foundation, but we’re still deciding on whether to go for a bold red lip or a more subtle nude. And maybe a touch of blush to really bring it all together! The beauty of an unfinished look is that it leaves room for imagination and future creativity.
