After changing his mind a million times, my son finally picked an Avengers theme for his birthday. And as the mom who thrives on fresh ideas and Pinterest boards, I tried so hard to convince him to switch it up… but nope. He wanted Spidey again (At least spidey had a crew this time ). So that’s exactly what my little king got 🕷️👑
I swore I’d plan ahead this time.
And then ADHD. Life. Overwhelm.
So naturally I threw everything together an hour before the party. But hey, we had matching T-shirts, custom superhero name tags (which I printed 15 minutes before guests arrived), and a cake I baked myself! Martha Stewart could never 💁🏻♀️
The food? 98% ADHD-friendly (aka prepackaged), except for pigs in a blanket which I swore I wouldn’t make but did anyway… and of course, they slapped.
Shoutout to my best friend who texted me all week saying “If you need help, call me.” And for once, I did. She helped set up, reminded me to eat (spoiler: I didn’t), and quite literally saved the day.
And through the chaos, the sugar highs, and the sticker paper drama I looked at my son’s face… and it hit me.
His joy was pure.
His smile said it all.
He didn’t care about perfection. He just knew he was loved.
