Hey fellow Dead by Daylight survivors! I know how crucial generator REPAIRS are to escaping, and honestly, sometimes it feels like the hardest part of the game. I wanted to share some of my personal strategies and experiences from my recent streams that have really helped me get those gens done, even when the killer is breathing down my neck! It’s all about balancing speed, awareness, and knowing when to hold ‘em and when to fold ‘em. First off, generator prioritization is absolutely key. I always try to identify the '3-gen' situation early on. If you and your team finish generators in a way that leaves the last three very close to each other, it becomes incredibly easy for the killer to patrol them and secure kills. My tip? Try to spread out your repairs across the map if possible, even if it means moving to a slightly less damaged generator. Don't be afraid to leave a partially repaired gen if it's becoming a death trap – your life is more valuable than a few percent of progress! When I'm on a generator, especially early game, I'm constantly aware of my surroundings. Listening for the terror radius, checking my back, and being ready to RUN AWAY at a moment’s notice is vital. The moment I hear that heartbeat get close, I'm usually pre-running to a nearby loop or strong PALLET DROP spot. Knowing when to make that PALLET DROP can really buy you time, either for yourself or for a teammate who needs a DISTRACTION. Sometimes, even faking a PALLET DROP can confuse the killer for a second, giving you an extra step. Don't forget about R1 PULL DOWN (or your equivalent key) for those quick drops! Speaking of distractions, remember those basic survivor tools! Fast VAULTs through windows or over pallets can often bait a killer into chasing you, giving your teammates precious seconds to finish a gen. But don't just vault blindly – try to create a loop where you can keep line of sight on the killer while still gaining distance. Every second you waste the killer's time is a second your team is working on those REPAIRS. One of the biggest lessons I've learned is not to be a gen jockey 100% of the time. Sometimes, making an ASSIST is more valuable. If a teammate is being chased near your gen and you can safely draw the killer's attention without going down, that's a win. Or if someone needs healing after a hook save, taking a moment to help them can make a huge difference to team cohesion and morale. Just remember to get back to those REPAIRS when you can, and communicate with your team via pings if you need help or are leaving a gen. Mastering skill checks is another huge part of generator REPAIRS. I used to miss them all the time, especially when stressed, but practicing consistently really helps. Perks like 'Stake Out' or 'Technician' can be game-changers if you struggle. For me, anticipating the skill check sound and visually tracking the needle has become second nature. And remember, the faster you get those generators done, the closer you are to that sweet escape! It's all about balanced aggression and knowing when to push a gen and when to reposition. Keep experimenting with different strategies, and you'll be consistently lighting up those exit gates and making those killers sweat!
