College Amazon Finds (pt. 1)
I am just now starting to collect all the items I will be needing/using this freshman year of college & wanted to share some of my favorite and most useful finds!
1. 🛏️ Comforter - This sage green reversible design is adorable and fits my earth tone color scheme perfectly! While this color & design is currently sold out, it is great for a lightweight but still insulating comforter! **Tip: Check on the specific dimensions of the comforter you chose in relation to your dorm bed. If you move around a lot in your sleep, it may be good to size up (twin bed with a queen comforter, etc) to leave a little extra fabric so as to not pull it off easily when sleeping!**
2.🍴Utensil Kits - While I will be eating at the dining hall, I still plan to have small frozen meals or microwaveable smaller snacks in my dorm that may require utensils! These little kits make it easily accessible and mean you don't have to go all the way to the dining hall for just a fork! **Tip: Don't forget a small bottle of dish soap and brush to keep these utensils clean!**
3.💡Press On Lights - If you have a roommate, this is a MUST! When you have an early morning class and they like to sleep in, having these smaller lights in your wardrobe/closet or other places around the room keeps the light and disruption minimal for your roomies, keeping everyone happy! **Tip: Make sure your dorm is okay with you hanging up these lights, either with command strips or other means. Plus, bring some extra batteries with you to college so you have them on hand if these run out!**
4.🪜Step Stool - This is super helpful when decorating/moving in and if you have tall wardrobes or shelving units! A foldable step stool like this saves space while still staying available! **Tip: Find a stool with grips on them so as to avoid any falls!**
5.🚪Door Stops - This door stops are good for keeping doors open during your move in process and the first weeks of school while still trying to meet new people! **Tip: Some door stops have hangers on them that make them easy to store right on the back of your door!**

As you prepare for college, choosing the right items can drastically change your dorm experience. Start with a cozy comforter that suits your style, like a sage green reversible one that aligns perfectly with an earth-tone aesthetic. Consider the dimensions carefully—selecting a queen-sized comforter for a twin bed can provide that extra coverage you need for a good night's sleep without constantly repositioning it. Don't forget about practicality! A handy utensil kit will save you trips to the dining hall, ensuring you're ready for those late-night snacks or quick microwave meals. Pair it with some dish soap and a brush for easy cleaning. Visibility is key in shared spaces; invest in press-on lights to maintain a peaceful environment for your roommate while studying late or prepping for early classes. These lights are user-friendly and require minimal setup—just be sure to bring extra batteries! A foldable step stool can ease accessibility challenges as you organize and decorate your room. Select one with grips for safety, especially if you're looking to reach those higher shelves. Additionally, door stops can help foster new friendships by keeping doors open as you navigate the first weeks of college life. Some innovative designs even have hangers, providing a solution for convenient storage. Curated for freshmen, these practical suggestions not only make college life smoother but also aid in personalizing your living space and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
