🕯️4 Essential books for new witches

I’m so excited to start this series of book sharing! 📖

If you saw my get to know me post, I really am a homebody bookworm at heart. I have a pretty large collection of metaphysical books that are neat and dear to my heart and many more I have to dive into!

💫I wanted to start this mini book series with four books I think are perfect for any beginner witches as well as more advanced practitioners (keep in mind these are only my oponion!). There are so many books and resources available that it can be hard to determine the “right” information. I do wanna say that you know your mind and intuition the best. One of my biggest mistakes in my practice was being afraid of doing something or a spell “wrong”. It’s all about trial and error if you ask me and that is how you know get to know your practice the best.

I have some detail in the photo captions so I’ll just list out the books here:

1. Year of the Witch by Temperance Alden

2. Planetary Spells & Rituals by Raven Digitalis

3. Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs by Scott Cunningham

4. Psychic Witch by Mat Auryn

5. Bonus book: Your own journal or grimoire!

📚Have you read these books? What’s your favorite and what are you currently reading?!

Xo💗

... Read moreHey fellow magic seekers! I'm so glad you're diving into the world of witchcraft books. When I first started, the sheer volume of information was pretty overwhelming, and I remember feeling a bit lost on where to begin. That's why I truly believe in starting with a solid foundation, and definitely, a good book can be your best friend on this journey. One book that consistently comes up as a must-have, and for good reason, is "Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs." This isn't just any book; it's practically a comprehensive herbal index for witches! I can't tell you how many times I've reached for my copy to understand the magical properties of plants. It demystifies herbalism, offering clear, concise information on everything from common garden herbs to more exotic botanicals. Learning how to ethically source and work with these natural elements has transformed my spellwork and daily practice, making it feel more connected to the earth. It’s a classic for a reason, and if you’re looking to incorporate plant magic into your path, this book is an absolute treasure. For those interested in exploring the cosmic side, "Planetary Spells & Rituals" by Raven Digitalis is another fantastic choice. It really opened my eyes to how astrological guidance and cosmic magick can be woven into practice. I found the glossary particularly helpful for understanding new terms and concepts. Many of you might also be searching for "old witchcraft books for sale," seeking that deep, traditional wisdom. While finding genuinely ancient grimoires can be challenging, the spirit of those old texts lives on in many foundational books published in the last century. These 'classics' often provide invaluable historical context and foundational principles that are still highly relevant today. Don't overlook second-hand bookstores or online used book markets – sometimes the most profound wisdom comes from a well-loved, slightly worn volume. I’ve discovered some incredible, out-of-print titles that have enriched my understanding immensely. Think of it as building your own personal library of ancestral knowledge! And speaking of old traditions, let's not forget the power of your own "bonus book": a personal journal or grimoire. This is where your own unique magic truly comes alive. Inspired by the idea that 'your body & mind are all you need,' a grimoire is a sacred space for your experiences, spells, dreams, and reflections. It's where you document your trial and error, your successes, and your learnings. There’s no right or wrong way to keep one; it’s a living, breathing record of your evolution as a practitioner. I started mine early on, and looking back at my initial entries compared to now shows just how much growth is possible. It’s a deeply personal connection to your craft. Finally, if you're exploring content "under the witch" umbrella and feeling a bit overwhelmed, remember that learning is a continuous journey. These books provide incredible starting points, but true understanding comes from applying what you learn. Experiment with the meditation, magick, and energy manipulation techniques you read about. Trust your intuition above all else. Happy reading and blessed be on your magical path!

Hello im new to all of this stuff. I have a huge interest in it but I am an atheist (questioning agnostic) would I still be able to practice this type of stuff or believe in it?
