Getting there is definitely part of the fun! From Safford, you'll head east, and eventually, you'll hit some well-maintained dirt roads managed by the BLM. Don't worry, a regular car can usually make it, but always check local conditions, especially after heavy rains which can make some sections a bit tricky. The drive itself offers stunning desert vistas and a real sense of getting away from it all, making you feel like you're truly heading into the wild. There's something so liberating about leaving the paved roads behind! Once you arrive, you’ll find a few primitive soaking tubs. These aren't fancy resort pools; they're rustic, concrete-lined tubs fed by geothermal springs. The water is wonderfully warm and mineral-rich, perfect for easing tired muscles after a day of exploring. There are usually a couple of tubs available, varying in temperature, so you can find your perfect soak, and they operate on a first-come, first-served basis. The best part? Soaking under the wide-open Arizona sky, especially at night when the stars put on an unforgettable show, is pure magic. It’s so peaceful, listening to the desert sounds around you – truly a unique sensory experience. Since it’s quite remote and undeveloped, coming prepared is key! There are also primitive camping spots available right there, which makes it perfect for an overnight trip. Waking up to the desert sunrise after a night of stargazing and soaking is an experience I won't soon forget. It's truly a unique Arizona adventure, offering a chance to disconnect from the daily grind and reconnect with nature in its rawest form.
