A Taste of Singapore @ Boat Quay✨

Wondering if there is any eatery @ Boat Quay area for a taste of Singapore delights...

Simon Says Cafe (formerly The Rainbow Bistro), situated at riverside which serves Hainanese comfort foods, local fusion and Western dishes.

An absolute warm and inviting artisan cafe with outdoor seats for a great scenic view of the Singapore River. The service staffs and manager are very friendly and approachable as well.

✨Hainan Chicken Cutlet Curry Risotto $14.90+

Must-order Hainan Signature dish, delectable golden crispy pieces of chicken cutlet, cabbages and a sunny side-up egg, paired with rich, creamy and flavourful curry Risotto.

✨Prawn Laksa $9.50+

One of our popular Singapore delights, colorful tempting bowl of delicious laksa, thick bee hoon noodles topped with fresh prawns, beansproats, tau pok, fish balls, hard boiled egg, lettuce. Adding of cockles is $2.50.

✨Mango Kakigori $14.90+

Famous Japanese shaved ice dessert which you can select from the 4 flavours of Mango, Matcha Red Bean, Black Sesame and Red Bean Milk.

It is great to order for sharing and enjoy the refreshing cooling dessert in the current humid weather.

The food pricing looks probably on the steep side due to the touristic location, nevertheless their main dishes in the menu are worth to try it out, especially the Signature Hainanese delights.

... Read moreIf you're exploring Boat Quay and craving an authentic taste of Singapore, Simon Says Cafe truly stands out as a gem. What I love most about this spot is the charming riverside atmosphere combined with a menu that blends comforting local flavors and creative fusion dishes. The outdoor seating lets you enjoy a wonderful view of the Singapore River, perfect for a relaxing meal or catching up with friends. One standout dish I highly recommend is the Hainan Chicken Cutlet Curry Risotto. It's a delightful twist on the classic Hainanese chicken rice, featuring crispy chicken cutlets paired with creamy, flavor-packed curry risotto and topped with a sunny side-up egg. The balance of textures and flavors is impressive and satisfying. Another favorite is the prawn laksa. This rich, spicy noodle soup loaded with prawns, tau pok, and thick bee hoon is truly comforting. Adding cockles enhances the authentic experience, making each spoonful a burst of traditional Singaporean taste. I appreciate how fresh and vibrant all the ingredients feel, which shows the care that goes into this dish. To cool down after your meal, the Mango Kakigori Japanese shaved ice is a refreshing treat. It's ideal for sharing and especially welcome during Singapore's humid weather. The mango flavor is sweet yet light, and with other options like Matcha Red Bean and Black Sesame, there’s a dessert for every palate. While the prices are slightly on the higher side, reflecting the prime location of Boat Quay, the quality and unique flavors justify the cost. The friendly service here also adds to a welcoming dining experience. Overall, visiting Simon Says Cafe offers a delicious way to immerse yourself in Singapore's culinary culture with a comfortable riverside setting. If you’re wandering around Boat Quay looking for something special, this cafe is definitely worth a visit.
