Like many, I have experienced moments where the person I once was seems to disappear, replaced by someone entirely new yet unrecognizable at first. The process is never easy — it usually involves confronting pain, tragedy, and loss that burn away familiar parts of ourselves. But it is precisely through this painful dissolution that new light emerges within. This transformation feels much like a spiritual death and rebirth, echoing the powerful idea that sometimes 'God kills us to bring us to life.' It’s not about physical death but the death of old patterns, beliefs, and emotional habits that no longer serve our growth. For me, letting go of naivety and recklessness meant embracing vulnerability and cultivating resilience. It was like walking through a dark tunnel, with lessons and realizations lighting the way. What helped most in this journey was self-compassion and allowing myself to grieve what was lost while keeping hope alive for what could be gained. There is strength in accepting that some parts of our past selves need to be left behind—no refunds or rewinds. This acceptance opens the door for transformation to unfold genuinely. As this new self emerges, there’s a shining light that symbolizes wisdom, clarity, and renewed purpose. It’s a light born not from ease but from endurance and inner work. Sharing these experiences reminds me how universal this process is and how powerful it can be to witness and honor our own metamorphoses.
