Half His Age Book Review
Half His Age Book Review

This was not an easy listen. I’ve seen reviews where people talk about how it is funny, witty, and has charm. Personally, I would not describe this book that way. It is raw, dark and hard to swallow. It makes you uncomfortable, uneasy. It is not for everyone. And there were times I had to stop listening because it was too much, but that is the point. This touches on the harsh reality that some women have faced, what young girls continue to face. How men can be predatory and not even realize it. The psychology of a developing girl who just wants to be seen, heard and loved, but doesn’t know how. It is a hard read, a hard listen, but a story that needs to be told.

So, you've heard about 'Half His Age' and are probably like me, always checking if a highly anticipated read is available on Kindle Unlimited. It's one of my go-to platforms for discovering new books without breaking the bank, especially for those darker, more intense stories you're not sure you'll click with. Regarding 'Half His Age,' by the brilliant Jennette McCurdy – author of the impactful 'I'm Glad My Mom Died' – here's the deal on its Kindle Unlimited status. As of my last check, this particular novel isn't typically included in the Kindle Unlimited subscription. It's often available for direct purchase as an eBook or in paperback, and sometimes through Audible for the audiobook version. It's a common scenario for newer or highly popular titles from well-known authors to be sold individually rather than being part of the KU catalog. I know, it can be a bit disappointing when you're hoping to dive into a book like this with your KU subscription! But don't let that stop you. If you're still keen to experience this raw and thought-provoking story – and trust me, it is a story worth experiencing, even if it's uncomfortable at times – there are a few other avenues to explore. First, check your local library! Many libraries offer digital lending services through apps like Libby or OverDrive. You might be able to borrow the eBook or audiobook for free. It’s an amazing resource for avid readers, and a great way to try out a book before buying. Second, keep an eye out for sales. Amazon often has daily or weekly deals on eBooks, and 'Half His Age' might pop up there. Adding it to your wishlist can sometimes notify you when the price drops. Third, consider the audiobook. I personally listened to 'Half His Age,' and found the narration incredibly impactful, which truly enhanced the raw emotions of the story. If you're an Audible subscriber, it might be available there, or you could use a credit. Lastly, if you're really invested in reading Jennette McCurdy's work, purchasing the eBook or physical copy directly supports the author. Given the profound themes explored in this novel – touching on harsh realities and the complexities of human psychology – it’s a narrative that stays with you long after you’ve finished the last page. It challenges you, makes you think, and sometimes, those are the stories we need to own and revisit. So, while Kindle Unlimited might not be the avenue for this one, there are definitely ways to get your hands on this powerful book!
