Losing Sight

Two petitions for this book! 1. This needs to be adapted on screen! This would be such a fun rom com to see on the screen. It’s funny plus there’s a dash of magical realism. 2. More 30/40+ romance pleaseee. As a newer member of the 30s, I enjoy reading characters of a similar age and it gives me/us something to look forward to as we age!

This was my first time reading Tati Richardson and what a great intro! The story was hilarious, sexy and real facing the realities of dating as you get older. 4/5 stars for this one!

If you’ve read this who would you cast to play Gideon and Tanika?

... Read moreWhen I first picked up 'Losing Sight' by Tati Richardson, I was hoping for a good romantic comedy, but what I got was so much more! This book isn't just another lighthearted read; it's a delightful dive into the complexities of dating as you get older, sprinkled with a truly unique flair of magical realism that kept me utterly captivated. For anyone, like me, who’s navigating their 30s or even 40s, Tati Richardson crafts a narrative that feels incredibly authentic. It's refreshing to read about protagonists who aren't in their early twenties, facing different life challenges and expectations in the dating world. Tanika, the Black woman with green glasses depicted so wonderfully on the cover, is a character you can't help but root for, and Gideon, the Black man, is equally compelling. Their journey is a testament to finding love and connection at any stage of life, and it genuinely made me feel seen. The magical realism element, which is subtle yet impactful, elevates the story beyond a typical rom-com. It’s not just about the meet-cute and the inevitable bumps in the road; it’s about a deeper, almost mystical connection that adds layers of intrigue and whimsy. I won't spoil the details, but it truly sets this book apart. It makes you wonder about destiny, serendipity, and the hidden forces that bring people together. This isn't just about finding 'the one,' but about finding yourself and embracing the unexpected. Richardson's writing is sharp, witty, and incredibly engaging. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the scenarios and nodding in agreement at the very real struggles Tanika faces. The chemistry between the main characters is palpable, making their interactions both sexy and endearing. It’s a beautifully balanced story that tackles real-life issues with humor and heart. If you're searching for a romantic comedy that offers more than just fluff – one that’s genuinely funny, deeply relatable for the over-30 crowd, and has a touch of magic – 'Losing Sight' is an absolute must-read. It’s the kind of book that stays with you long after you’ve turned the last page, leaving you with a warm feeling and a belief in the power of love, no matter your age or circumstances. Seriously, add this to your TBR pile – you won't regret it!
