Beautiful Broken Love

What can’t Shanora Williams write?? I’ve read her thrillers (patiently waiting for The Wife Before) now romance, should I dabble in her fantasy next?

This book definitely took me on a journey touching on themes of grief, family dynamics, life after loss and finding love again. It is such much more than just a romance book. The characters are funny and the spice is sexy. TikTok got me to read it so I’m going make y’all read it. 4/5 stars for this one.

... Read moreAs an avid reader, one of the questions I get asked most often is, "How do you rate your books?" It's more than just a number; it's a reflection of my overall experience, the emotions a story evoked, and how deeply it resonated with me. Over time, I've developed a personal book rating chart that helps me categorize and remember my reads, and I'd love to share it with you, especially after diving into amazing books like Shanora Williams' 'Beautiful Broken Love.' My rating system isn't set in stone, but it provides a good framework: 1 Star: "Did Not Finish" or "Absolutely Not" – This is rare for me, but sometimes a book just doesn't click. Maybe the writing style was unbearable, the plot was confusing, or the characters were insufferable. It's a DNF or a book I powered through purely out of stubbornness, regretting every page. 2 Stars: "Meh, It Was Okay" – I finished it, but it didn't leave much of an impression. There might have been some redeeming qualities, but overall, it was forgettable. I wouldn't recommend it, but I wouldn't actively tell people to avoid it either. 3 Stars: "Good Enough" – This is where most of my reads fall. I enjoyed the story, the characters were decent, and it kept me engaged. However, it probably won't be a book I think about long-term or rush to reread. It's a solid, enjoyable read but not necessarily outstanding. 4 Stars: "Really Enjoyed It!" – This is a highly recommended read for me! Books in this category, like 'Beautiful Broken Love,' are ones I genuinely loved. They had compelling plots, well-developed characters, and a writing style that drew me in. They might have a minor flaw or two, but it doesn't detract significantly from the overall experience. I'll be thinking about these for a while and tell my friends about them. 5 Stars: "Life-Changing/Absolute Favorite!" – These are the rare gems that blow me away. A 5-star read leaves a lasting impact, makes me feel deeply, and often makes me question my own reality. The writing is superb, the characters unforgettable, and the story stays with me long after I've turned the last page. I'd reread these endlessly and evangelize them to anyone who will listen. When I rated 'Beautiful Broken Love' a 4/5, it was because it hit so many of those sweet spots for me. The way Shanora Williams explored themes of grief, family dynamics, and finding love after loss was incredibly compelling. The characters were so real, making me laugh and sometimes even shed a tear. It was a journey, not just a story, and the spice was definitely sexy without overshadowing the emotional depth. It might not have completely shattered my worldview to reach that elusive 5-star mark, but it was an exceptionally strong, memorable read that I'd wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for a powerful romance. Beyond the story itself, I'm also influenced by presentation. While it doesn't impact my star rating, a beautiful cover, like the pink floral cover with the delicate dragonfly pendant on 'Beautiful Broken Love,' definitely catches my eye on a bookshelf. It's the first impression, much like how a well-organized bookshelf featuring titles like 'Black Girls Must Be Magic' or 'Blood & Root' next to decorative vases can invite you into a reading space. Ultimately, though, the magic happens within the pages. So, next time you're browsing for your next read, think about what criteria truly matter to you and develop your own rating system – it makes the reading journey even more personal and fulfilling!
