My most controversial cake so far😯
People say funny things and as a self taught 15 yr old cake decorator I used to get frustrated sometimes but after 3 years, I usually just laugh about it now. Most of you are so nice and supportive and I wish I could reply to everyone😭
I know I can’t make everyone happy online and in this video I made the mistake of calling my palette knife work rose petals lol. The comment section was unhinged but entertaining fr😅
Also do we think the 1st and 3rd commenters are related🙂↔️
This is from another platform and I’ll link the video in the comments. I’m pretty new here and wanted to thank you all for your encouragement and support!
As a self-taught cake decorator who’s been practicing for three years, I’ve learned that creativity often invites mixed reactions, especially when sharing work online. One of my most memorable experiences involved creating a 60th birthday cake where I used palette knife techniques that I personally called "rose petals." This sparked quite a heated and entertaining comment section. Some viewers criticized the texture, mentioning the icing appeared grainy and unfinished, while others encouraged me to keep trying and praised the effort for someone at my learning stage. Dealing with such controversial feedback taught me valuable lessons in cake decorating and online engagement. For example, the mention of unstrained raspberries reminded me how crucial attention to every ingredient and preparation detail is to elevate cake quality. While I initially felt frustrated, I grew to appreciate this feedback as a source of growth. Through this journey, I’ve realized that cake decorating isn’t just about perfect aesthetics but also about personal expression and connection with my audience. If you’re a young or aspiring cake decorator like me, my advice is to embrace critique with an open mind. Use it to refine your skills—focusing on smoother icing techniques, experimenting with flower and border designs, and learning how to balance texture with flavor. Also, remember that online communities can be both challenging and supportive; the key is to stay passionate and keep creating. I’ve also noticed that honest conversations in comment sections, even if unfiltered, can spark funny and relatable moments. For instance, some debated whether certain commenters were related due to their remarks. These interactions show the vibrant, sometimes chaotic, but always engaging nature of cake decorating communities. Overall, every cake, especially those that stir controversy, is a stepping stone toward becoming a better artist. Sharing your journey openly builds authenticity and encourages others to pursue their creative passions too.

Just keep going young man and forget the haters you’ve got this. I’ve seen some of your work and I love it. With time we get better so keep up the good work sweetheart ❤️❤️❤️
