For the first time in my life, I’m learning to…

Be Obsessed.

Sorry, the title ran out of space hahaha. What I really wanted to say is: for the first time in my life, I’m learning to be obsessed about something.

_

I’ve never been a big fanatic about anything. I have hobbies and interests, and I’m pretty loyal to all of them — supporting Man Utd in football, watching the NBA and anything basketball, following One Piece, going to the gym, keeping up with my bias K-pop idols (who are yours??), etc.

But I’ve never been overly fanatic. I don’t obsess over things. For example, I might get a collectible or two for keepsake, but I won’t buy tons of them. Partly because I don’t have that much money, but also because I don’t feel the need to get so many hahaha.

_

But in this modern world, you see more and more people becoming famous, or even successful, when they’re obsessed with something.

On TikTok, there are people getting famous for cleaning lawns, rescuing bees, or showing off their collectibles.

Others build a following just by constantly creating content about a football club or talking about anime.

I even follow an Instagram page that only posts oddly specific basketball facts — things that are kinda “duh” but delivered with this dry humor that cracks me up hahaha. The page has ten thousands of followers!

I think you get the gist.

And honestly? I’m a little envious of these people.

They genuinely look happy and excited sharing about their obsession.

They keep going at it.

They get good at it.

People feel their joy.

A part of me has always wondered if I could do the same.

_

I guess for the longest time, I just didn’t know what my “thing” could be.

I tried, but failed.

I had hobbies, but didn’t want to make too much of them.

Maybe I could’ve been content being happy-go-lucky, but a part of me always wanted “something more.”

The good thing is, I’m still relatively young. No longer in my 20s, but nowhere near my 70s. I’ve still got time hahaha.

So the trick is to keep moving forward, keep trying things, and see how they unfold.

_

And I think I’ve been doing that. I picked up coaching, went through therapy, learned more about myself.

I’ve come to understand my strengths, weaknesses, passions, and motivations.

So maybe now is the time to be obsessed with something.

To challenge myself and see where it leads.

Maybe even manifest it into something great.

Or maybe not.

But if I never try, I’ll never know. So… let’s learn to be obsessed with trying!

_

And trying what? For me — it’s the topic of gratitude.

I want to spread the practice of gratitude because I truly believe a grateful heart can transform a life.

My latest attempt is creating a connection-making platform based on gratitude. You can read about it in my post on Slow Spark.

I also have an Instagram page linked in my bio — give it a follow!

_

I don’t know how long this obsession will last, but it’s already been going strong since 2020.

So why not just keep going and see where it leads?

Follow me for more random thoughts, and thanks for reading! ✨

... Read moreMany people wonder how to become truly obsessed with a goal like studying or self-improvement. From my experience, it starts by establishing healthy boundaries around your time and mindset, creating space for focused enthusiasm rather than burnout. It helped me to focus on what genuinely excites me — for me, it’s gratitude and coaching — instead of forcing interest in random areas. This shift from casual hobbies to meaningful obsession can feel gradual, but it brings a new kind of fulfillment. I found that setting small, achievable goals kept the momentum alive without overwhelming me. For instance, dedicating a few minutes each day to gratitude exercises helped me build a habit. I also learned that being compassionate with myself during setbacks is key; obsession doesn’t mean perfection but persistence. Platforms like Slow Spark and Instagram have allowed me to share this journey and connect with others who find joy in their passions. Whether your obsession is music, studying, or self-improvement, remember that it’s a personal path. Embracing your unique interests steadily enhances motivation and results. If you want to cultivate obsession healthily, start by aligning your passion with your daily routine and support system. This personal approach helped me transform curiosity into a fulfilling lifestyle, and it could work for you too.

The hardest work was learning to love myself
Two years ago, I closed the chapter on almost a decade of a toxic, abusive relationship. Walking away was the bravest thing I did, but it was also the start of my darkest storm. I was broken, lost, and surrounded by people who didn’t really care. Looking back, I can admit I wasn’t proud of who I wa
