Painful and effective way to lose weight 🥲

Back in July, I kena one of the worst food poisoning episodes I’ve ever experienced.

I’ve had food poisoning before, so it wasn’t my first time, but wow, this one was next level. I had severe stomach cramps, couldn’t sleep through the night, couldn’t eat… which gave me even more cramps.

Then I accidentally drank sparkling 100Plus, started vomiting, couldn’t eat or drink, and had to go to the hospital for a drip.

As if that wasn’t enough, I got severe constipation and ended up squatting in the toilet for hours. Hahaha… so eventful.

Looking back, it was pretty crazy. I did lose quite a bit of weight that week, like 3–5kg? My tummy got flat, and I think my appetite has been reset ever since, hahah.

But the whole ordeal was painful: 3am sleepless nights, trying to stomach crackers and plain Milo. I was so lethargic, couldn’t do much at all.

I even went to a gastro specialist because after a week, I was still having occasional diarrhea. Thankfully, nothing serious. The ups and downs of my symptoms were actually signs of recovery, my appetite was coming back and I wasn’t having diarrhea every time I ate.

Anyway, wanted to use this post to share some insights about food poisoning. Hope nobody kena, but these tips can be handy if it happens, hahaha:

1️⃣ The first 12 hours are critical. Find charcoal pills and take them to absorb toxins. Don’t leave it unattended, or your digestive system might absorb the toxins and cause painful cramps. Trust me… so. damn. painful.

2️⃣ No soy sauce! I was stupid and wanted to add a bit of taste to my porridge. It started fine, but soon made my stomach worse because it irritated my digestive system.

3️⃣ No sparkling drinks!! I thought 100Plus would help with hydration, but I forgot it was carbonated. Big mistake. That made everything worse. Lesson learned: don’t be like me. Hahaha.

4️⃣ Eat what you can. I was worried about not eating enough, so I tried to force myself. It was tough. I learned it’s better to listen to your body. Bread, crackers, porridge, whatever you can stomach is better than nothing.

Just make sure you stay hydrated; dehydration is worse.

5️⃣ Full recovery can take up to a month. The gastro specialist told me this. Different viruses cause food poisoning, and some last longer than others.

I used to recover in 3 days, so a week-long recovery worried me. But it’s normal, and some cases can even last a month.

What matters is that your condition improves over time. If diarrhea or loss of appetite continues after a month, then something else might be going on.

So yes, some tips for managing food poisoning. An encounter that I hope to avoid and won’t wish it upon anyone, so eat safe and stay healthy, folks! Hahaha.

Persistent diarrhea or appetite loss beyond a month warrants consultation with a healthcare provider to rule out underlying issues. During recovery, listen to your body’s cues rather than forcing food intake, which can prolong discomfort. Mild constipation afterward can also occur due to dehydration and changes in diet, so gentle fiber intake once you start eating normally may help. Ultimately, prevention through safe food handling, proper cooking, and hygiene is best. However, if you do encounter food poisoning, understanding these management strategies may reduce suffering and support a safer, smoother recovery journey. Stay mindful, eat safe, and take care of your digestive health!

glad to know you have recovered. I also had diarrhea for 2 weeks back in 2022. it was one of the worst experience as I also visited my gastro specialist who couldn't find anything wrong with the cheapest stool sample. he did ask if I wanted to do the $500 stool sample analysis but I didn't take it up. I lost 2kg but I was already so thin. thankfully I haven't had repeated experience. 🙏🏻

I was also in a similar situation. My case was so bad I was rushed in an ambulance to hospital I had to do blood test, go on IV drip and test on my stool. Thankfully my company covered everything for me It was also very painful
