Am I the only one who finds this weird?
If you are on social media, be it TikTok or Instagram, you are probably consuming some sort of short video content.
While I also consume those on a daily basis, there is a type of content that I always felt kinda weird:
When people recorded and shared close, intimate moments w their loved ones.
Not the NSFW kind la, but like when they are crying together,
Or feeling sad and the kid comforted them,
Or a cozy convo with their Little Ones or Elderly Parents, etc.
Those videos often gained quite a lot of traction because they can indeed be quite heartwarming and touching.
But I can’t shake the feeling of “why would you take out your phone to record” during such moments? And even to post it on the internet.
Couldn’t help feeling the creator was seeking the attention and kinda diluted the positive feelings. Hahaha.

To each of his own. So long they are happy, I think it’s fine.
In fact, they are sharing good things w people, so that is a good thing too.
I could just be overly critical?

Viewers often find comfort and inspiration in these real-life interactions, which can spread positivity. However, I also understand the discomfort some feel when intimate moments become content. It might seem like the raw emotion is being diluted or that the act of recording takes away from the authenticity of the experience. Sometimes, the presence of the camera changes the dynamic between people, making those moments feel staged or performative. Personally, I’ve noticed that creators who share these videos are often seeking to celebrate love and family bonds rather than simply chasing attention. They want to share joy, vulnerability, or support in hopes that others might relate or feel uplifted. Yet, it's important to remain mindful of privacy boundaries and ensure that everyone involved consents to sharing such moments. Ultimately, whether it feels weird or authentic depends on personal perspectives and cultural attitudes toward privacy and social sharing. I’ve come to appreciate that social media is a space for diverse expressions, even if some content challenges our comfort zones. So while I sometimes feel uneasy watching those emotional videos, I also recognize the potential for them to foster empathy and connection amongst viewers.
