Hey Lemon8 fam! I'm absolutely bursting with excitement to finally introduce you all to my very own Original Character (OC) for The Amazing Digital Circus! ✨ Meet Popsie, also affectionately known as Poplet! I've been dreaming up this character for ages, and seeing her come to life has been such a journey. She's my #TADC OC 11, and I can't wait for you to get to know her better. So, who is Popsie? Well, she's a sweet, slightly naive, and incredibly curious being who found herself trapped in the Digital Circus just like the others. Her main physical trait is her almost balloon-like form. She's made of a shimmering, semi-translucent material that changes color subtly with her emotions. Think of her as a digital puffball, light on her feet and always looking for the next adventure, or maybe just a quiet corner to observe. Her design was really inspired by the whimsical and slightly unsettling aesthetic of the show. I wanted her to feel like she truly belonged, a native inhabitant of this bizarre digital world, or at least someone who adapted very quickly. She has these big, expressive eyes that are always wide with wonder or apprehension, reflecting the chaos around her. One of her most unique abilities, which I hinted at in some of my early sketches, is her capacity to literally 'get squished' without harm! If something heavy falls on her, or she gets caught in a tight spot, she can flatten herself like a pancake, then slowly reinflate back to her original shape. It's both a survival mechanism and a fun party trick in the Digital Circus, though it can be a bit startling to witness. This ability also makes her quite agile, able to squeeze through gaps that others can't. Another quirky trait I gave Poplet is her unusual breathing... or lack thereof! In this digital realm, she rarely needs to breathe in the traditional sense, but she has this habit of 'holding her breath' when she's really concentrated, scared, or trying to suppress a giggle. Her body stiffens slightly, and her colors become more vibrant, almost like she's storing up energy. It's a visual cue for her internal state, and it often happens when she's trying to process something particularly confusing that Caine or Jax have said. Popsie’s personality is designed to be a bit of a contrast to the cynical and exasperated main cast. She’s an eternal optimist, always trying to find the good or the funny in their absurd situation. She often tries to mediate arguments between the others, sometimes successfully, sometimes leading to more chaos. Her kind heart and innocent perspective make her a good foil for the more jaded characters, especially Jax. Before she came to the Digital Circus, Popsie was, well, she can't quite remember. Like many of the others, her memories are fuzzy. She has faint impressions of being a toy designer or perhaps a children's entertainer, which might explain her playful nature and her tendency to see the lighter side of things. She often tries to create little games or distractions to boost morale, even if they sometimes go awry. She's truly "THE AMAZING DIGITAL OC" I've always wanted to create for this universe. I've put a lot of thought into how Poplet would interact with the existing cast. I see her looking up to Pomni, hoping to learn how to navigate this strange new world. She'd probably be a bit wary of Jax's pranks but would try to befriend him anyway, maybe even surprising him with her resilience or unexpected wit. And Caine? She'd see him as a benevolent but utterly chaotic ringmaster, finding his antics more amusing than terrifying most of the time. What do you think of Popsie, my Poplet?
