Things I wish I knew as a Neurodivergent & ADHD Witch #spookyserenity
I can’t believe this month is already over 🤦♀️ - As we wrap up ADHD Awareness Month, I wanted to share some personal reflections on my journey as a Neurodivergent & ADHD Witch. 🌟
🧠 Understanding Neurodivergence 🧠
First things first, let's demystify "Neurodivergence." It's a beautiful term that reminds us that our brains are as unique as snowflakes. Being Neurodivergent means that our neurological makeup diverges from the typical, and that's something to celebrate, not stigmatize. 💫
🤝 Neurodivergence & ADHD: Partners in Crime 🤝
For me, Neurodivergence and ADHD go hand in hand. ADHD, or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, can be seen as a quirk in the way our brains process information. It's like having a mental filing cabinet with a mind of its own! 🗄️
🎭 ADHD: Beyond the Surface 🎭
One thing I've learned is that with ADHD, what you see is not always what you get. We're experts at masking, concealing our internal chaos with a seemingly calm exterior. It's our superpower, but it can also be exhausting. 🦸♀️
💔 Releasing Stuck Emotions During a Spin Episode 💔
During those moments when PTSD or Depression makes an uninvited appearance, it can feel like our world is spinning out of control. I've discovered the importance of acknowledging those emotions, not suppressing them. Let them whirl through you like a storm, and as they pass, you'll find calm within. 🌪️
🌈 Stimming: A Symphony of Self-Expression 🌈
Stimming, short for self-stimulation, is our unique way of expressing ourselves. Whether it's rocking, fidgeting, or even dancing, embrace it! Stimming is the language of our souls, and it deserves to be heard. 💃🕺
🔮 Wrapping Up ADHD Awareness Month 🔮
As ADHD Awareness Month comes to a close, let's remember that our Neurodivergence and ADHD make us who we are, a beautifully diverse tapestry of minds. Keep exploring, keep learning, and never forget that your magic is in your differences. 🌌🌟
So, fellow Neurodivergent & ADHD Witches, here's to embracing the extraordinary within us and using our unique powers to light up the world. Hey everyone! Building on my reflections about navigating life as a Neurodivergent & ADHD witch, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into how our unique brains, including those of us with autism, can actually be incredible assets in magical and spiritual practices. It’s a journey of self-discovery, and understanding how our neurodivergence shapes our path can truly unlock powerful experiences. When we talk about neurodivergence within magical circles, it often sparks conversations about practices like chaos magick. For many neurodivergent individuals, the structured yet flexible nature of chaos magick, which emphasizes personal experience and results over rigid dogma, can be incredibly appealing. Our "out-of-the-box thinking," a positive of being neurodivergent as seen in the OCR, often aligns perfectly with the experimental spirit of chaos magick. We're naturally inclined to question norms and forge our own paths, which is essentially the heart of this practice – finding what works for *you*. However, it's not always smooth sailing. The "ADHD Iceberg" concept, where much of what we deal with is hidden beneath the surface, applies here too. While hyperfocus can be a superpower for intense ritual work, it can also lead to burnout if we don't manage our energy. Sensory sensitivities, a common experience for those with ADHD and autism, might require adapting ritual spaces or methods. For instance, if certain sounds or textures are overwhelming, we can adjust our environment to make it conducive to focus and flow, rather than distraction. One common challenge, whether you're engaging in ritual or just daily life, is dealing with "stuck emotions" or moments of intense overthinking. I've found great benefit in practices that help release these. Beyond the methods mentioned earlier, I've explored mudras for overthinking, which are hand gestures that can help calm the mind and bring focus. Incorporating these simple techniques before or during magical work can really make a difference. The graphic on "HOW TO RELEASE STUCK EMOTIONS" offers fantastic starting points, and I’d add that mindful movement or even channeling our stimming into rhythmic actions during meditation or spell casting can be incredibly grounding and empowering. Remember, stimming isn't just a coping mechanism; it's a "symphony of self-expression" and can be a powerful tool for focus and energy manipulation in our craft. For those of us just starting out, or even seasoned practitioners looking for new ways to integrate our neurodivergent traits, some "Beginner Tips For Witchlings" can be adapted. Think about how your brain uniquely processes information. Do you thrive on visual aids? Create detailed sigils or talismans. Are you auditory? Use chants, music, or spoken word as your primary magical tool. If you're kinesthetic, incorporate dance, movement, or crafting into your spells. The key is to lean into your strengths. Ultimately, being a neurodivergent practitioner, whether you identify as a witch, a chaos magick practitioner, or something else entirely, is about celebrating your authentic self. It’s about recognizing that your brain isn't broken; it's just different, and those differences are where your true magic lies. Embrace your unique perspective, adapt practices to suit your needs, and never stop exploring how your neurodivergent mind can illuminate your spiritual journey. We are a "beautifully diverse tapestry of minds," and our contributions to the magical world are invaluable.

My daughter has ADHD and I tell her all the time, it’s hip to be weird. I also tell her she a descendant of a witch (me and many ancestors) and Magic is in our blood.
