Mr. Edison is a glamorous new supper club inside The Bellevue, bringing an old-fashioned night out back to the heart of Center City!
•
And the name has a real connection to the building. When the Bellevue-Stratford opened in 1904, Thomas Edison helped design its original lighting, including fixtures and the ballroom switchboard. The landmark hotel became known as the “Grand Dame of Broad Street” and was once considered one of the most luxurious hotels in the country. Mr. Edison now pays tribute to that history with glowing Edison bulbs, lightning stretching across the ceiling and a massive Ferris wheel displaying bottles behind the bar.
•
The restaurant comes from veteran restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow, with Chef Matt Levin leading a menu inspired by regional ingredients and Philadelphia’s culinary history. It feels like a modern interpretation of a classic 1940s supper club, built around dinner, cocktails and the experience of getting dressed up for a full night out.

My meal featured in this Reel included the caviar dip with house-made ranch gaufrettes, lobster tortellini with shellfish Américaine and fennel cream, the 18-ounce bone-in New York strip with bordelaise and bone marrow, and carrot cake with butter pecan ice cream, caramel sauce and candied carrot.
