It's incredible how much a game can inspire us, and for me, Final Fantasy VII holds a truly special place. Whenever I think about iconic Final Fantasy characters, Tifa Lockhart and Aerith Gainsborough immediately come to mind. Their strength, kindness, and intertwined destinies have captivated so many of us, making them two of the most beloved Final Fantasy female characters ever. Creating this journal spread was my way of paying tribute to their enduring legacy and the beautiful world of FFVII. When I started this project, I wanted to capture the essence of both Tifa and Aerith, not just individually, but also their unique bond. I played around with different cutouts of their game models and illustrations, eventually settling on an anime-style embrace for the central focal point. There’s something so powerful and heartwarming about seeing them together, and that imagery really drove the whole design. I spent a lot of time selecting just the right images to convey that feeling. Beyond the characters themselves, I really wanted to infuse the spread with a magical, ethereal fantasyaesthetic. This is where the floral patterns came in. Delicate flowers, often associated with Aerith, were a must, but I also incorporated bolder blooms to represent Tifa's strength. The stained-glass window motifs were another element I was excited to include. I love how they add a sense of grandeur and timelessness, almost like looking into a sacred space dedicated to these heroines. Crafting these details, whether with paper or drawn elements, was incredibly satisfying. To add even more dimension, I used decorative paper flowers to give the pages a lovely texture and a handmade feel. It's those little touches that truly bring a Final Fantasy fanart project to life. As I worked, I also integrated meaningful phrases that resonated with the characters' journeys and my own creative process. Seeing snippets like 'FIND Wonder BELIEVE IN YOURSELF' and 'Dream big.' on the pages felt like a personal mantra. It reminded me that just like Tifa and Aerith faced their challenges, we too can overcome obstacles and achieve our goals if we 'work hard.' and never give up on ourselves. This journal spread isn't just a piece of art; it's a reflection of my passion for FFVII and a reminder of the powerful stories that inspire us.
