😫too hard to go back to natural hair color

My hair is damaged and I'm truly fed up with coloring it. I sort of want to embrace my natural color, but this intermediate process looks really awful.

Is there something like a temporary dye that I should attempt or a product that you suggest to utilize during this transitional period?

Or is this one of those bite-the-bullet-for-a-year processes? Would really appreciate hearing what others🙏🙏.

... Read moreHey, I totally get where you're coming from! That in-between phase when you're growing out dyed hair and trying to embrace your natural color can feel like an eternity, and honestly, sometimes it just looks... messy. I went through a similar journey after years of bleaching my hair, and it felt like such a commitment. But let me tell you, it's absolutely worth it for the health and vibrancy your natural hair will regain! First off, deciding to go back to your natural hair color, especially after bleaching, is a fantastic step towards healthier hair. Many of us choose this path because the constant dyeing can leave our strands brittle, dry, and prone to breakage. Embracing your natural shade often means less chemical processing, which allows your hair follicles to recover and grow stronger. It's not just about aesthetics; it's about giving your hair a much-needed break and improving its overall condition. Now, about that 'awkward phase' – you're not alone in finding it challenging! There are a few paths you can take to make the transition smoother. The 'cold turkey' method, where you simply let your natural roots grow out, is the simplest but often the hardest visually. To manage the stark line between your dyed and natural hair, I found styling with headbands, scarves, and different updos like braids or buns to be lifesavers. They cleverly disguise the demarcation line and can even make you feel more put-together. If you're looking for a less drastic approach than the 'big chop' (cutting off all the dyed hair at once), you could consider blending techniques. Lowlights, which are darker highlights applied to your dyed hair, can help soften the contrast and make the grow-out less obvious. Or, a balayage technique that gradually introduces your natural color into the dyed ends can create a more seamless look. Regarding temporary dyes, yes, they can be a great option! Look for semi-permanent or demi-permanent color that's close to your natural shade, applied only to the dyed parts. These fade over time, so you won't have another harsh line to deal with, and they don’t contain harsh ammonia or peroxides that could further damage your hair. Just be sure to do a strand test first! For managing damaged hair during this period, deep conditioning is your best friend. I swear by weekly hair masks, especially those with bond-repairing ingredients. Products like Olaplex or K18 can work wonders in rehabilitating bleached hair, making it feel softer and stronger as your natural hair grows in. Minimize heat styling as much as possible, and opt for gentle, sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners. A good leave-in conditioner or hair oil can also protect your ends and add shine, making your hair look healthier overall. Remember, this is a journey, not a race. There will be days when you feel frustrated, but every inch of natural growth is a victory. It might feel like a 'bite-the-bullet-for-a-year' process, and for some, it is, but with the right strategies and a bit of patience, you can absolutely achieve your goal of beautiful, healthy natural hair. Keep celebrating the small wins, and know that your hair will thank you in the long run!

I have grown out my natural hair to the point where it looks like I got an ombre, but I suggest putting a color that is closer to your root color on the ends so that it blends in
