Birthday + Closet Reset Clothing Haul ✨
So before all of the no buy 2025, anti overconsumption, and buying only used things believers weigh in on the comments, I’d like to disclaimer some things:
- I haven’t bought multiple pieces of clothes for myself in one sweep in a while. I’ll thrift for a shirt or two from time to time, go shopping for a specific item, but never going and getting what the vibes say is right.
- my mom and I opted to do this because I recently gained some stress weight. No big deal, will alleviate itself now that the stressful event is gone. HOWEVER, I need some comfortable things to wear in the mean time. I’m a believer that your clothes in the closet need to change to fit you, not you changing to fit them. (trying unhealthy eating habits to rapidly drop weight for example, or having “goal shirts”)
It generally felt like time to change things up. I did get a lot of graphic t-shirts because it was the first time Kohls had my size in a LONG time. I hadn’t felt genuinely excited to look at shirts in a good amount of time.
Similar note: I do want to go thrifting again sometime, I’ve been missing it, but I have chosen to wait until my mental health is better.. it’s really challenging to go there and walk out empty handed because nothing fits me. (Iykyk)
here is some tips that I did want to give:
if not thrifting, the old navy clearance section is a good way to go. You can find some good hidden gems back there that they just want to get rid of- so less $. Last year I went to one in New York and the entire bottom floor was their clearance department. In this post, the shirt with the tape on it was literally $5!
I’m very picky with old navy because - no offense to them- but their prices can be insane. I wouldn’t spend full price in there on anything but jeans. Their jeans are worth it.
I always check clearance, all of my favorite shirts have been from there! But importantly: don’t buy it just because it’s a “bargain”, only buy it if you truly like it.
