2. Double cleansing your skin with an oil based and water based cleanser.

3. Incorporating a vitamin C infused product, whether that’s in your toner, serums or SPF. I love the Pixi vitamin C toner, it helped my hyperpigmentation and dark spots fade away.

4. Consistently using sunscreen everyday even if you are not going outside. There is something about SPF that treats/fades dark spots.

5. Exfoliate regularly. The Dermalogica daily exfoliate is SO GOOD. Been using it going on 6 years now. It helps with new skin cell turnover.

Double cleansing is a game changer—starting with an oil-based cleanser helps to dissolve makeup and excess sebum, followed by a gentle water-based cleanser to clean the skin surface. This two-step process ensures your skin is fully prepped to absorb treatment products. Vitamin C is truly a powerhouse ingredient in fading dark spots. I personally use a vitamin C infused toner similar to the Pixi Glow Tonic, which incorporates glycolic acid for gentle exfoliation alongside vitamin C for brightening. Over several weeks, I noticed my dark spots becoming less visible and my skin tone more even. Daily sunscreen use is absolutely essential. Even if you’re indoors, UV rays can penetrate windows and contribute to pigmentation. A broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen not only protects but also supports the fading process of dark spots by preventing new ones from forming. Regular exfoliation noticeably boosts new skin cell turnover, helping to remove pigmented dead skin cells faster. I have trusted Dermalogica’s daily exfoliate for years because it exfoliates without irritating my skin, which is vital—over-exfoliating can cause more pigmentation issues. In addition, products containing mandelic acid or rice-based brightening powders can be great alternatives for sensitive skin, gently improving clarity and texture. Yes this is great! Definitely agree with vitamin C and sun protection. A physical sunscreen with “oxides” are particularly important for dark spots as even visible light can affect pigment. A retinoid can also be key. Beyond that, targeted treatments like Thiamidol or Melasyl can be incorporated too!
