When you've consistently gone above and beyond for someone and defended them, it's reasonable to expect appreciation in return. However, if respect is absent, leaving the situation is a valid choice to maintain your dignity and peace. Ultimately, prioritizing your own emotional health over trying to fix unreciprocated relationships is empowering. People deserve relationships built on mutual trust and respect, and standing firm when you're 'tired and checked out' shows strength and self-awareness.
