If Older Movies were release today: My review

The weight and flair differ between a princess and a queen. Like many viewers, "Princess Diaries 2" shows that Mia's new storyline is more compelling now that she's wearing her royal queen's crown. Starting off, the princess breaks down what has happened in the last five years. We whisk through the rolling credits, seeing the beautiful, Hollywood-ified imaginary place called Genovia—where the entire movie takes place. She's on her way to her birthday ball, warmly welcoming her subjects. She's truly excited to be in Genovia , shadowing her grandmother, Queen Clarisse (Julie Andrews). The plan is for her to learn until her 21st birthday, then take over the crown when she's ready.

But it's true—when you're hot stuff, everyone wants a piece of you. Enter some thrice-removed country-time snob claiming to be the "real" heir to the crown: the fine-looking, big-headed Chris Pine. He supposedly knows the people, though we never hear or see him speak to them, let alone try to govern. He just looks good in tight pants and when he's wet (which you get the delight of seeing). But I'm getting ahead of myself. Now, because a room of white men in terrible lace-front wigs decided Mia isn't married, she has thirty days to find a husband or she'll be deemed unfit to be Queen—and Mr. Big Head will get the crown.

The central conflict revolves around two star-crossed lovers—Princess Mia and Chris Pine—squabbling over who can wear the crown better and whose horse is bigger. But deep down, they both just want to dance in each other's arms under the stars. Meanwhile, Joe remains no-nonsense with the OG Queen, tired of waiting for her to agree to marry him. The Queen claims it's about her duty to her country, but honestly, she doesn't make any real rules beyond saying "thank you for being here today" after five seconds in her presence. Oh, and I almost forgot—she did teach the young, spoiled but fabulous princess how to gracefully glide down a slide. She also sang a wonderful tune with THE Raven-Symoné. But I digress—none of these folks seem to care about Genovia.

Except for Princess Mia, who spots a little orphan named Annie getting teased in the parade. This probably triggered memories of her own experience with those copy-and-paste San Francisco bullies. So she not only invites the orphans to join the parade but also builds them a grand castle, giving these kids better opportunities to thrive and find their forever home.

All in all, the movie is a delight, and without spoiling anything else, I hope you understand that this movie is really cute and deserves 10 out of 10 stars because it's a classic that needs to be passed down from generation to generation.
