Pack My Toddler’s Bag!!
we have officially downsized!!! 🥳
no more massive diaper bag 🤪🥲 Unless we’re traveling long distance, then this mama over packs! here are some things i pack if we’re not really going far, or if we’re going to be out for a short period of time! (i do have a little bag full of toys in the car for my girl just in case, so i don’t pack them in her bag!)
• diapers (5 minimum) and a pack of wipes
• snacks (bars, applesauce, yogis, etc… depends on how far/ long the trip is!) and of course water!! our girl is obsessed with her water ☺️
• mama’s wallet is obvi a must, i put it in her bag since i no longer carry my own purse (unless its date night)
• i always pack an extra pair of clothes! sometimes i pack two. the extra pair is always a comfy pair!
• we love triple paste and have seen a major difference every time we use it! we can’t leave without it! and of course some waste baggies for the stinky diapers 😅 we get ours from Munchkin!
• lastly i pack some things for myself! i have to have some hand cream because my hands get SO DRY. some chapstick to keep my lips refreshed lol. and some deodorant because it’s hot outside, and sometimes you just need to reapply 🤷🏽♀️😂

You've seen what I love to pack in my toddler's downsized backpack for quick trips, but let's dive even deeper into making that little bag work smarter for you! Finding the perfect 'toddler backpack' (we all make typos, right? 😊) truly makes all the difference. I’m a huge fan of my small, light purple backpack because it holds just enough without becoming a bottomless pit of forgotten items. When you’re choosing one, look for adjustable straps to ensure it’s comfortable for both you to carry and, eventually, for your little one to wear. A chest clip can be a lifesaver if your child is a wiggler! And don't underestimate the power of pockets – they're perfect for separating snacks, that crucial diaper rash cream, and a side pocket for their water bottle. My basic packing list is fantastic for short errands, but what if your 'short outing' turns into an all-day adventure, or you're heading somewhere specific? This is where adapting your packing list becomes key. For an extended park playdate or visiting friends for the afternoon, I might add a few more snack bars, a small, soft baby outfit in case of a major spill, or a compact book for quiet moments. If we're going to the doctor, I might toss in a new, small toy to distract them during waits. The trick is to mentally walk through your day and anticipate potential needs without overpacking. Organization is truly my secret weapon, even in a compact bag. I swear by using small, clear pouches for different categories. One pouch holds all diapering essentials: diapers, a travel pack of wipes, and a roll of waste bags. Another is dedicated to snacks, and a third for my personal necessities like that hand cream, chapstick, and maybe a mini deodorant for those extra warm days. This way, I'm not rummaging around when a quick need arises – everything has its place. Plus, it makes restocking super easy when we get home. Honestly, ditching the massive diaper bag was a game-changer for me. It forces me to be more intentional about what we truly need, cutting down on unnecessary weight and clutter. It’s also a subtle way to teach my toddler about their own belongings and foster a tiny bit of independence as they get older. It feels less overwhelming for both of us! Before every outing, I do a quick 30-second check: enough diapers? Snacks still there? Wallet safely tucked away? I even have a 'restock station' at home so when we get back, it's effortless to replenish everything for our next adventure. Hope these extra tips help you conquer your toddler's backpack packing – happy adventuring!
