beating dehydration for kids this summer!
sometimes your littles don’t ALWAYS want to drink water. some of them would rather prefer something else.
SIGNS OF DEHYDRATION:
🧠 Behavioral Signs:
• Crankiness, tantrums, meltdowns
• Unusual tiredness or sluggishness
• Difficulty focusing or zoning out
• Complaining of headaches
💩 Physical Signs:
• Dark yellow urine or not peeing for 6+ hours (diapers or potty)
• Dry lips or cracked corners of the mouth
• Sunken eyes
• Skin that doesn’t bounce back when pinched (try the “skin pinch test”)
a great way to make sure they’re hydrated is giving them fruit with high water content!!
🍉 Watermelon
🥒 Cucumber
🍊 Oranges
you can also:
1. Start a water schedule: offer water every hour, rather than leading with snacks first.
2. Make DIY hydration popsicles with coconut water and fruit!
3. Add natural flavors to their water by adding fruit!
