summer must haves as a 2nd time mom!

there are SO many things that are important but these are my must haves, along with SPF!!

🧢 Baby Hat

i didn’t use one with my first because she was born around summer and we didn’t really leave the house. this time around, it was much needed! my second is VERY light skinned, so the last thing i needed was her getting burnt.

🍓Silicone Teethers

PERFECT for cooling your baby down! you can shove whatever fruit or veggie your baby loves, in the freezer, and pull it out for a nice cool down!

🪭Stroller Fan

100000000/10 recommend! every mom needs one of these! best way to make sure your little one is getting a nice breeze!

While those first few months with a newborn might have meant staying mostly indoors, a second baby often means you're more on-the-go, juggling multiple schedules. This time around, I've really honed in on the essentials that make summer adventures not just bearable, but truly enjoyable for everyone. First up, let's talk about the absolute necessity of a baby hat, like the excellent GAT & JACK BABY HAT. You might think a little shade from a stroller canopy is enough, but a good hat provides direct, constant protection for your baby's delicate scalp and face. My second little one is quite fair-skinned, and seeing how easily she could get burnt made me super proactive. Look for hats with a wide brim that shades the ears and neck, and ideally, one with a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating for extra peace of mind. Breathable materials like cotton are key to prevent overheating. It's not just about sunburn; it's about regulating their body temperature and preventing heatstroke, which is a serious concern for infants. Next, those cooling BOON PULP SILICONE TEETHERS are pure genius. Beyond just soothing sore gums, they offer a fantastic way to cool your baby down from the inside out. I love how versatile they are – you can fill them with frozen fruit purees or even just chilled breast milk. This provides both hydration and a refreshing sensation, which is incredibly helpful on a hot day. When choosing teethers, always opt for BPA-free silicone and ensure they're easy to clean. Regular cleaning is crucial to prevent bacteria buildup, especially when food is involved. For extra relief, sometimes a chilled, damp washcloth can also work wonders for those teething gums. And honestly, if there's one item I'd scream from the rooftops about, it's a quality stroller fan, like the Amacool STROLLER FAN. This isn't just a luxury; it's a lifesaver. Strollers, even with canopies, can trap heat, making it uncomfortable and even dangerous for babies. A portable fan creates a much-needed breeze, keeping the air circulating around your little one. When picking one, check for a strong, flexible clip that attaches securely to any stroller or car seat, multiple speed settings, and, importantly, finger-safe blades. Rechargeable options are a huge plus for portability. Just make sure to position it so the air circulates around your baby, rather than blowing directly into their face constantly. Beyond these specific items, my experience as a second-time mom has taught me a few more general summer safety tips. Staying hydrated is paramount – offer breast milk or formula more frequently, and if your baby is older and cleared for water, sips throughout the day can help. Dress your baby in lightweight, breathable clothing, preferably light colors that reflect sunlight. Always plan outings for cooler parts of the day, avoiding the peak sun hours between 10 am and 4 pm. And never, ever underestimate the power of shade; always seek it out or create it with an umbrella or portable canopy. Finally, be extra vigilant with car seat safety – buckle them in correctly and always check the temperature of the buckles and straps before placing your baby in. Being prepared means you can enjoy the beautiful summer months without unnecessary worry, making memories with your growing family.

The little fans are lifesavers! We use them everywhere. Stroller, car seat, & even car rides so they get more air flow during the summer
