MAKING MONEY ON MATERNITY LEAVE!

Trying to make sure you have steady income can be hard while on Maternity Leave. some places of business don’t pay you at all. With my first daughter, both me and my husband didn’t get paid, so he had to go back to work after the 2nd week enable for us to stay afloat. here are some things you can do to make income!

1. Survey Polls

• they may not be ideal considering they’re worth cents and sometimes a dollar max. but if you’re consistent you can make $20 a week! perfect for a sweet treat for mom like coffee or some snacks. my code is: NYZYL! some people don’t like it while others have made insane money off of these!

2. Sale Unused Items

• have items laying around that you don’t use anymore? sale them! list them on Facebook Market place or any other selling app! my husband and i have done this before and made great money from these items.

3. Resale Thrift Finds

• i’ve seen multiple people do this, especially with baby items. they go and find some items and sale them on social media. if you’re out of state, then you’ll have to pay for shipping. people have made great money doing this! and have even turned it into actual small businesses.

4. Rent Unused Space or Items

• you can rent out decor items, or even space that you have like a detached area or room even. (only if you’re comfortable with this) i bought an arch for my daughters birthday and i plan on renting it out for parties.

5. Print on Demand or Digital Downloads

• use Etsy and Canva to make mugs, shirts, lanyards, back to school items and so much more! if you’re super crafty, you can make digital downloads like, calendars, notes, recipe book, etc!

6. Etsy shop or Skill based items

• open your own Etsy shop and sell your items! if you’re skill based and know how to edit photos, copy writing, social media management, sell those kinds of skills!

7. Teach Online

• zoom has been a hit since covid, as well as online learning! put two together and you can do so many online classes. music, tutoring, crafting, sign language, or another foreign language!

the possibilities are endless! 💕

... Read moreIt's completely normal to feel the financial squeeze when you're welcoming a new addition to your family. Maternity leave, while a precious time, often comes with a significant drop in income, which can add a layer of stress when all you want to do is bond with your little one. I remember feeling overwhelmed, wondering how we'd manage to keep everything afloat. But I quickly learned that with a bit of creativity and smart planning, making extra money is absolutely achievable, even with a sleeping baby by your side. When it comes to those quick wins like survey polls, while they won't make you rich overnight, they can certainly add up for those small, but oh-so-needed, treats or essentials. My trick was to do them during those fragmented moments of downtime – while the baby was nursing, or during a quiet stretch when they were finally napping. Apps like Attapoll, mentioned in the OCR, can be downloaded and used right from your phone, making it super convenient. Don't aim for a full-time income here, but rather a consistent stream for coffee runs or a new baby outfit. For those looking to declutter and boost their bank account, selling unused items is a goldmine. Think beyond just clothes. Baby gear that's no longer needed, forgotten gadgets, or even home decor can fetch a good price. Snap clear photos in good lighting – this makes a huge difference! Be honest about the condition and research similar items to price competitively. Platforms like Facebook Marketplace are great for local sales, saving on shipping, but always prioritize safety when meeting buyers. Reselling thrift finds, especially baby items, is another fantastic option. Many moms are looking for gently used, quality items at a fraction of the retail price. Keep an eye out for popular brands or unique pieces. If you have a creative spark, print on demand or digital downloads on platforms like Etsy offer incredible flexibility. You can design anything from personalized baby shower invitations to meal planners for busy moms. The beauty is you create the product once, and it can sell repeatedly. Similarly, if you have a skill like photo editing, writing, or social media management, consider offering your services remotely. There are countless small businesses and individuals who need help and are happy to pay for quality work. The biggest challenge, of course, is time. How do you fit this in with feedings, diaper changes, and trying to catch a few hours of sleep yourself? My advice is to be realistic and embrace flexibility. Some days you might get an hour in, others just 15 minutes. Focus on tasks you can easily pick up and put down. Batch similar tasks together – maybe all your listing photos one day, all your social media promotion another. And remember, it's okay to take breaks. Your well-being and bonding with your baby are paramount. Don't compare your journey to anyone else's; find what works for your unique situation. This journey of making money on maternity leave is not just about the extra cash, but also about rediscovering your capabilities and building confidence as a new mom.
