realistic postpartum recovery kit!

‼️highly recommend checking in with your hospital FIRST to make sure they have things you’ll need while in recovery. i had purchased many things. tuck pads, ice packs, and sooo many others just for me to not need them. not because the hospital i went to sent me home with SOOO many items. but because my recovery wasn’t horrible at all.

here’s a list of somet things you WILL need.

• Peri bottle, preferably the Frida Mom one!

• Dermoplast

• Perineal ice packs especially right after birth!

• Stool softeners

• Heavy flow pads or adult diapers

• Nipple balm

• Nursing pads, reusable or disposable, but i LOVE the reusable ones!

AT HOME NECESSITIES

• Cozy socks or slippers

• Robe or loose pajamas

• Water bottle with a straw

• Healthy snacks

• Lip balm & hand cream

• Hair ties or claw clips

FOR BREASTFEEDING

• Haakaa or manual pump

• Nursing pillow

• Burp Cloths

• Mini cooler bag to store milk, rather than getting up throughout the night! (or mini fridge)

... Read moreNavigating postpartum recovery can be a challenging experience for many new moms, and having the right supplies makes all the difference. As highlighted, it’s crucial to first check with your hospital to understand what items they provide since many facilities send moms home with essentials. This can help you avoid unnecessary purchases like tuck pads or ice packs if they’re already supplied. One of the standout recommendations is the peri bottle, particularly the Frida Mom brand, known for its comfort and convenience in maintaining hygiene after delivery. Dermoplast spray is another valuable item; it provides soothing relief for perineal discomfort, greatly helping with the healing process. Perineal ice packs can significantly reduce swelling and pain immediately after childbirth. Incorporating stool softeners in your kit is also a smart move, as bowel movements can be difficult and painful postpartum. Heavy flow pads or adult diapers are indispensable given the postpartum bleeding experienced in the first few weeks. For breastfeeding moms, nipple balm and nursing pads, especially reusable ones, are important to deal with soreness and leakage. At home, comfort is key. Cozy socks or slippers, loose pajamas or a robe provide ease of movement and warmth. Staying hydrated is essential so a water bottle with a straw encourages frequent drinking without needing to reach far. Healthy snacks help maintain energy levels, while lip balm, hand cream, hair ties or claw clips offer little comforts that make a large difference. Breastfeeding requires some additional gear like a Haakaa or manual pump for milk expression, a nursing pillow for comfortable positioning, and burp cloths to manage spit-up. A mini cooler bag or small fridge is perfect for storing expressed milk, allowing moms to avoid frequent trips to the kitchen, especially during night feedings. Remember, every postpartum journey is unique, so tailoring your recovery kit to your specific needs is important. With these practical items, you can create a realistic and effective postpartum recovery kit that helps you focus on healing and bonding with your newborn.
