National doughnut day

It’s natinaol doughnut day. I will find any excuse to bake something or celebrate. Obscure holidays are my thing 🤣🤣

Canned Biscuit doughnuts

1/2 pot or deep fryer full Vegetable oil

1 can large buttermilk biscuits

6 tablespoons sugar

Jam of your choice, put it on a ziplock@bag and cut a small hole in the corner

Icing or glaze of your choice

Heat oil to 350 °F. Cut small rounds out of the center of each biscuit. I used a small biscuit cutter. Put your auger in a small bowl, prepare your icing or glaze. I also prepared a ziplock bag with Jelly for my doughnut holes.

Add the dough in batches to fry, about 2 minutes per side, until golden brown.

Remove donuts from fryer and place on a paper towel-lined sheet tray. Dunk donuts in chocolate icing, or icing of your choice. After you cook the doughnut holes roll them around in sugar. Cut a small hole in them and squeeze the jelly from the ziplock bag inside. Enjoy while warm.

Enjoy your chaos,

-J

... Read moreNational Doughnut Day is a delightful occasion to indulge in one of the most beloved sweet treats — doughnuts. Beyond just buying them from a store, making doughnuts at home can be surprisingly simple and satisfying, especially with recipes using canned biscuit dough to save time without sacrificing taste. One of the best things about using canned biscuits for doughnuts is the ease and speed. With minimal ingredients and equipment, including vegetable oil for frying and your choice of jams and glazes, you can quickly create doughnuts that taste fresh and delicious. Heating the oil to the perfect 350°F ensures a golden crust and a soft inside, making every bite enjoyable. Filling doughnut holes with jam from a ziplock bag is not only a clever hack but also a fun way to customize flavors. Raspberry, strawberry, or peach jams work wonderfully, giving a burst of fruity sweetness with every bite. Coating these holes in sugar right after frying adds an extra layer of texture and sweetness that melts in your mouth. For those who enjoy experimenting, trying different icings such as classic chocolate, vanilla glaze, or even a citrus-infused icing can elevate your homemade doughnuts to new heights. These variations make the recipe flexible for different tastes and occasions. In my experience, celebrating small or obscure holidays like National Doughnut Day by baking creates joyful moments and delicious memories. Sharing freshly fried doughnuts with family or friends turns a simple snack into a cherished tradition. So next time you spot a canned biscuit doughnut recipe, give it a try — it’s an easy way to enjoy homemade treats while celebrating fun food holidays!
