Check out my song "Street Vendors"
My upcoming book "The Journey to Self"
was my focus on moving from a heavy, surviving mindset into a victorious, free spirit is what inspired me to write this song.
It is about falling in love with myself... I used the imagery of a bustling, colorful street market to mirror the exact themes of my book such as:
Honoring My Own Layers: Just like celebrating every eccentric vendor and glowing broth...It’s about embracing all the parts of myself, my creativity, my flaws, and my resilience with absolute compassion and respect.
Reclaiming the Everyday: Turning routine morning steps into a "lemon cart parade" reflects the practice of treating my daily life, my healing, and my prayers with royal dignity instead of carrying the weight of past hurts.
Self-Sustaining Nourishment: Biting into fruit that "tastes like my hands" captures the profound shift of realizing that I am the one who nurtures, feeds, and sustains my own aura, soul, and spirit. I am my own sanctuary.
I first started writing back in 2008 after leaving high school.
I later seized the opportunity to go back and work toward my diploma, which I successfully earned in 2013. I picked writing back up around 2015, but ultimately stopped again because my focus wasn't fully there, I weren't truly ready to heal, and I hadn't collected all my necessary life experienced traumas from all the parts of me that was broken. Every step of my timeline from 2008 through my 2013 diploma and the years following was essential for gathering the missing pieces, leading directly to the massive internal shift that fuels me to write The Journey to Self.

Creating meaningful art often comes from deep personal experiences, and "Street Vendors" is no exception. The song vividly paints a picture of a lively street market, symbolizing the diverse layers of our identity and the beauty in every part of ourselves. Just like the colorful vendors who contribute their unique flavors to the market, embracing our talents, flaws, and resilience with compassion fosters true self-love. One powerful aspect of this piece is its focus on reclaiming everyday moments. Turning routine activities—like a morning walk—into a joyful “lemon cart parade” is a beautiful reminder that healing and self-care can be found in the simplest daily rituals. This mindset shift helps to replace past burdens with a sense of dignity and hope. The lyric about tasting fruit that "tastes like my hands" is especially profound. It captures the realization that we are our own nurturers and protectors. Recognizing ourselves as sanctuaries creates a foundation for sustained healing and growth. Reflecting on the artist’s journey, the path from high school through earning a diploma and gathering life experiences highlights how healing is a process. Taking time to collect and address personal traumas can be essential before fully embracing creativity and self-expression. If you’re on your own journey toward self-discovery and healing, this song and the accompanying book can offer inspiration and comfort. They remind us that every part of our story and every layer of ourselves is worthy of celebration. Take time to listen, reflect, and give yourself permission to heal in your own unique way.
