My favourite food spots in Busan 😋
Visited Busan for the first time recently & i loved it so much!!! We were there for 3 days & almost everythg i ate was so, so yummy 😋 - here are 5 of my favourite food spots!
1. Hwangso Haemultang 🌟
- place was filled w locals for dinnertime so we had to queue for a bit but the seafood stew was so sweet & yummy!!
- we were thr on a sat so we could see the drone show that was happening outside of the windows
2. La Feuille 🥐
- walked past this bakery & it smelled amazing - we decided to join the queue & the salt breads were GOOD (better than Jayeondo imo)
- my fav was the plain salt bread followed by the mentaiko one!
3. Manbingo Cold Wheat Noodles 🍜
- this might be my fav meal in Busan - preferred the dry noodles over the soup one
- non-spicy version was still a little spicy but yummy!!
4. Subyeon Choego Pork Soup 🐷
- dwaeji gukbap is a must in Busan
- didn’t expect pork neck to taste this good, the soup was also flavourful & v comforting
5. Myeonghyeonman Soy Sauce Marinated Crab 🦀
- was craving for crabs & stumbled upon this place - we didn’t realise it was raw crabs so my in laws were not pleased LOL
- both the soy sauce and sweet/spicy flavours were good but i liked the sweet/spicy one more! Goes rly well w rice
We also tried two other places:
📍Sot Sot Gwangalli
- decent stone pot rice but nth amazing, would skip ❌
- decided to eat here since my in laws wanted soup & it was just downstairs our hotel but it was super pricey
- they have Michelin bib gourmand but honestly the food didn’t taste up to standard - soup was soooo bland & the beef did not impress. Not worth the bucks ❌❌❌
If you’re planning to explore Busan’s culinary scene, it’s worth diving deeper into the city’s famous seafood hotpots like Hwangso Haemultang. This iconic spot is beloved by locals, where the broth is rich and filled with fresh, sweet flavors from assorted seafood. Don’t be surprised if you have to queue; the wait is a testament to its popularity and quality. Besides hotpots, Busan offers a variety of street foods and unique local dishes. For example, the soy sauce marinated crab at Myeonghyeonman is a must-try for crab lovers and pairs perfectly with a bowl of warm rice, delivering a delightful balance between sweet and spicy notes. When trying cold wheat noodles like those at Manbingo, I found the dry style offers a more intense taste experience compared to the soup version. It’s lightly spicy but incredibly refreshing — ideal for those looking for something different from the usual hot noodle soups. Many travelers also enjoy visiting local bakeries such as La Feuille, famed for its aromatic salt breads. I personally enjoyed the plain salt bread and the mentaiko variant; they provide a lovely complement to heavier meals or a quick snack on the go. A little advice: while Michelin-starred places like Han-Wolgwan sound tempting, in my experience, they might not always meet expectations. Sometimes, more authentic, bustling local spots offer far better flavors and value. Busan's food scene is rich and caters to a wide variety of tastes. Enjoying a meal in this vibrant coastal city means tasting fresh seafood dishes steeped in local tradition. Whether you're a fan of seafood stews, marinated crabs, or unique noodle dishes, Busan offers plenty of delicious options to explore and savor.
