I usually have my favorite snacks, like some fresh strawberries and chocolates, and a good drink to sip on, making it my ultimate self-care escape. And yes, my current obsession, Monopoly Go, even makes an appearance sometimes! But beyond the immediate relaxation, I've learned that what you do after your bubble bath is just as important for truly pampering your skin and extending that wonderful, refreshed feeling.
After all the lovely bath bombs and Epsom salts have worked their magic, my skin often feels soft, but it can also be a little dry from the warm water, especially if I've been in there for a while. So, my post-bath routine is all about locking in that moisture and nourishing my skin. Here’s what I do to keep my skin feeling amazing:
First things first, I gently pat my skin dry with a soft towel. I try not to rub aggressively, as that can irritate the skin and remove too much moisture. Just a light patting motion is enough to get rid of excess water while leaving a little dampness, which is perfect for the next step.
Immediately after, while my skin is still slightly damp, I slather on a rich, hydrating body lotion or body butter. This is crucial! Applying moisturizer to slightly damp skin helps to seal in the water from the bath, preventing it from evaporating and leaving your skin feeling tight or dry. I usually go for something with ingredients like shea butter, hyaluronic acid, or ceramides. Sometimes, I even use a body oil for an extra luxurious feel, especially on my legs and arms. I really take my time to massage it in, from my shoulders all the way down to my toes. It feels so good and makes my skin incredibly soft.
Don't forget your face! Even though it might not have been fully submerged in the bubble bath, the steam and warmth can still affect it. After drying my face gently, I apply my usual skincare routine: a hydrating toner, a serum (my current favorite is a hyaluronic acid one), and then a good moisturizer. This ensures my face gets the same love and attention as the rest of my body.
And for an extra touch of self-care, I pay special attention to my feet. After all, they do a lot for us! I'll apply a thick foot cream and sometimes even slip on a pair of soft socks afterward to really help the cream absorb. It's a small step that makes a huge difference in how pampered I feel.
Finally, I try to keep the relaxation going. I slip into some comfy pajamas, perhaps put on some soothing music, and avoid anything too stimulating right away. Sometimes, I might even play a few more rounds of Monopoly Go, or simply curl up with a book. Staying hydrated by drinking a glass of water is also a great way to rehydrate your body from the inside out after a warm bath. It’s all part of extending that wonderful 'take a bath' self-care experience.
