I rescued my cat twice

I rescued Ivy from a shelter with my mom when I was 16. She was about 9 months old at the time but had a litter of kittens who had already found their homes. I was so excited to adopt her, my whole family fell in love with her right away.

Unfortunately around a year later we ran into some unforeseen circumstances and we couldn’t keep her anymore. Since I was underage I had zero say in the matter. I was heartbroken but some close friends of mine offered to take her and I agreed since I was over at their place often. I made the effort to see her as much as I could until they started ghosting me. I knew in mt heart something was wrong but there wasn’t much I could do.

Around 3 years later my mom got a call from a local vet saying a good samaritan brought Ivy in as a stray. Poor baby was filthy, matted, and starving. She was hunting bugs and lizards to survive and fighting the elements. Being older and capable of taking care of Ivy on my own I knew I wanted to take her back. But my mom wanted to give my old “friends” the benefit of the doubt so she messaged their mom on FB and asked if they still had Ivy. The lady lied and said Ivy was right next to her! At that point I was done and went and got Ivy back.

One of the best and easiest decisions I ever made! I love my Ivy kitty. I am still so hurt and angry that anyone would want to neglect this baby. Couldn’t be me, I celebrate her every chance I get 💚

You’re stronger than me I would’ve reigned HELL on them for letting her become a stray :( I’m so happy you got her back and she’s got a good loving home 🫶
