Budapest
Budapest is a city that truly captivates with its blend of history, culture, and vibrant summer atmosphere. When I first visited during the summer, I was struck by the Danube River dividing the city into Buda and Pest — each side offering unique experiences that make Budapest so special. One of my favorite ways to explore the city was starting at the historic Castle District on the Buda side, where cobblestone streets and panoramic views provide a perfect backdrop for photography and relaxing walks. The Fisherman’s Bastion and Matthias Church are must-see spots that stunned me with their architecture and charm. Crossing over to the Pest side, I enjoyed wandering around the bustling city center, where thermal baths like Széchenyi Spa offer a perfect way to unwind after a day of sightseeing. Don’t miss exploring the vibrant ruin bars in the Jewish Quarter—these bars are filled with eclectic decor and lively crowds, perfect for summer nights. Budapest also offered incredible culinary experiences, from traditional Hungarian dishes like goulash to modern twists on local cuisine. Markets such as the Great Market Hall showcase fresh produce and local specialties which I found perfect for a light lunch. Throughout my trip, the vibe was enhanced by music playing everywhere, street performers, and events celebrating the Euro summer spirit. Whether you’re exploring historic landmarks or enjoying the lively social scene, Budapest offers a beautiful mix of relaxation and adventure that makes it an unforgettable summer destination.
