What do you put on your lick mat?
This morning when I woke up I decided to make a lick mat for the dogs so when I got home I was able to give it to them .
It's got yogurt , banana, wet dog food and some peanut butter! Of course a couple pieces of dog food and tiny dog treats.
I made it this morning and put it in the freezer and when I got home about 4hours later I gave it to them !
I think they remembered me making it because they got excited when I opened up the freezer .
It takes them about 10 minutes to finish it.
Cooper tends to finish first most times . Cora likes to take her time 😇

After seeing my dogs enjoy their homemade lick mats so much, I just have to share more about why these simple tools are absolute game-changers for pet parents! Lick mats aren't just fun; they're fantastic for enrichment, helping to calm anxious pups and provide mental stimulation. They're perfect for keeping your furry friend happily busy, especially when you need a moment to yourself or want to slow down their eating. When filling your lick mat, safety and nutrition are key. Let's talk about some popular and healthy options, like the dog lick mat peanut butter yogurt combo my dogs love, and why they're so good. Yogurt: This is a staple in my home! Plain, unsweetened yogurt (dairy or even some suitable plant-based options if your dog tolerates them) can be a great source of probiotics, supporting gut health. It’s naturally creamy and spreads easily on a blue lick mat. I always check the ingredients to make sure there are no added sugars or artificial sweeteners. Peanut Butter: A favorite for almost every dog! Peanut butter is rich in protein and healthy fats, making it a highly motivating treat. However, it's CRUCIAL to always choose xylitol-free peanut butter. Xylitol is a sugar substitute toxic to dogs, so read labels carefully. A small amount goes a long way, especially when combined with other ingredients for a dog lick mat peanut butter yogurt mix. Banana: My dogs adore banana! Mashed banana adds natural sweetness, potassium, and vitamins. It blends wonderfully with yogurt for a dog lick mat yogurt banana treat. It also helps create a thicker consistency that lasts longer, especially when frozen. Wet Dog Food: Don't forget their regular food! A thin layer of their favorite wet dog food can make the lick mat irresistible, especially for picky eaters. It’s a fantastic way to incorporate their daily nutrition into a fun activity, creating a dog lick mat with wet dog food experience that's both enriching and satisfying. The Magic of Freezing: The original article mentioned freezing the lick mat, and honestly, it's a game-changer! A dog lick mat frozen yogurt peanut butter blend lasts significantly longer than an unfrozen one. It provides a cooling treat on hot days and extends the mental engagement, making it perfect for when you need your pup occupied for a longer period. I usually pop mine in the freezer for at least 2-4 hours. More Lick Mat Filler Ideas to Try: Beyond my go-to recipe, there are so many other safe and delicious options to explore for your dog enrichment lick mat yogurt adventures: Pumpkin Puree: Make sure it's plain, unsweetened pumpkin puree (not pie filling). It's great for digestion! Cooked Sweet Potato: Boiled and mashed sweet potato is packed with vitamins and fiber. Low-Sodium Broth: You can freeze chicken or bone broth directly onto the mat for a hydrating, flavorful treat. Cottage Cheese: In moderation, plain cottage cheese can be a good source of protein. Berries: Mashed blueberries or raspberries add antioxidants and a different texture. Kibble/Treats: Sprinkle a few pieces of their regular kibble or small dog treats on top of stickier ingredients for added texture and challenge. Tips for Your Puppy: If you have a young one, introducing a puppy lick mat peanut butter or yogurt combination can be a wonderful way to teach calm behavior. Start with softer, less frozen options, and always supervise them. Ensure the portions are appropriate for their size. Lick mats are excellent for helping puppies settle down during crate training or when they need a quiet activity. In my experience, lick mats are more than just a treat delivery system; they are a valuable tool for reducing stress, preventing boredom, and providing a healthy outlet for natural licking behaviors. Cleaning your blue lick mats is usually easy with warm soapy water or even a dishwasher. Always supervise your dog, especially when introducing new foods, to ensure they tolerate them well. Give these ideas a try – I bet your furry friend will thank you for their new favorite dog licking yogurt treat!
