Morning routine with toddlers 🥰
My lowley boring but wholesome and fulfilling morning routine with two toddlers, should I vlog it? Like a “plate my toddlers breakfast” type thing? 🩵#toddlermom #breakfastidea #sahm #sahmlife #morningroutine
Waking up before the sun sometimes feels like a superpower when you have toddlers, doesn't it? Every morning is a unique blend of chaos and cuddles, but over time, I've found a rhythm that works for us, making those early hours a bit more manageable and, dare I say, even enjoyable! For all the SAHMs out there, or anyone navigating the delightful challenge of toddler mornings, here’s a deeper dive into our daily flow, focusing on those morning activities for toddlers that keep everyone (mostly) happy. Our day typically kicks off with the pitter-patter of little feet, signaling it's time for breakfast. This is a big one for setting the tone! My go-to is usually something quick and nourishing, like those fluffy scrambled eggs you often see on their plates. I try to make it a fun, colorful plate presentation – a little trick that sometimes encourages even the pickiest eaters. Seeing them settled in their high chairs, munching away, is one of those small wins that make a mom's heart happy. While they’re focused on their meal, I usually sneak in my first sip of coffee – sometimes it’s from a sleek blue caffeine drink can if I'm feeling extra fancy and need that instant boost! It's a small ritual, but it’s my moment of calm before the storm of playtime. After breakfast, we transition into our 'play and learn' segment. This isn't anything elaborate; it's simply letting them explore their toys, maybe a quick puzzle, or some sensory play like building blocks or a play-doh session. It’s amazing how much joy they get from simple things! This unstructured play allows them to burn off some of that boundless toddler energy. During this time, I also try to tackle a quick tidy-up of the breakfast mess or toss a load of laundry into the machine. Multitasking is definitely a mom superpower! My personal POV morning routine isn't about perfection; it's about consistency and flexibility. We aim for the same sequence of events – wake, eat, play, dress – but I allow for variations based on their mood (and mine!). For example, some days they're just not into building, so we'll switch to reading books or a dance party. I've found that having a loose structure really helps manage expectations for both me and the kids. To help them understand what’s coming next, we even have a little visual flow of our day on the fridge. It’s not a fancy girl morning routine chart per se, but rather simple picture cards showing breakfast, playtime, getting dressed, and nap time. This visual aid makes a huge difference in reducing meltdowns and getting cooperation, as they can 'see' what’s next. Occasionally, if I'm really on top of things or planning ahead for dinner, I'll even set the bread maker for some fresh dough during their morning play, getting a head start on an afternoon bake. The aroma of fresh bread later is such a comforting bonus! Once those morning activities wind down, it's often time for naps, which is my cue for a brief moment of calm. This is when I might finish up the bread making if I started it earlier, enjoying the aroma of a freshly baked loaf filling the house. Or perhaps I'll fold that load of laundry. These quiet pockets are essential for recharging. Managing a toddler morning can feel overwhelming, like a never-ending cycle of demands, but with a little routine, some patience, and a whole lot of love, it’s truly a wholesome and rewarding experience. Each day brings new challenges and new joys. What are your go-to morning activities or routine hacks that save your sanity or bring a smile to your toddlers' faces? I'd absolutely love to hear your insights and tips!
