... Read moreAs parents, we often hear the cliché, "Enjoy every moment, because time flies." But it's not until you're living it that you truly understand the profound truth behind those words. Just like many of you, I find myself looking back at photos and videos, wondering where the time went.
I remember vividly when she was just a tiny bundle, snugly strapped into her car seat, those big blue eyes staring right at me. That warning label on the car seat became such a familiar sight. I'd turn around, just to check on my little girl, making sure she was safe and sound, perhaps with a pink fluffy item beside her for comfort. It felt like those moments, those early days of her being a baby, would stretch on forever. The sleepless nights, the endless feedings, the first coos – they all felt so present and all-consuming.
Now, she's not so little anymore! Seeing her sit there, confidently holding her pink water bottle, a blue balloon often by her side, it’s a stark reminder of how quickly those baby days fade into cherished memories. Her blonde hair, which was once just a few wisps, now shines in the sunlight as she chats happily in the back seat. It's a joy to watch her develop her own personality and independence, but there's undeniably a pang of nostalgia for the little one she once was.
This bittersweet feeling is universal among parents. One minute they're a newborn, the next they're off to school, and then suddenly, they're teenagers! It makes you realize how precious each stage is. I've learned to really try and soak in the present moments, even the challenging ones, because they too will become distant memories.
To help cherish these fleeting years, I've started a few things: taking countless photos and videos (which, like these car seat glimpses, become priceless), writing down funny quotes or new developments in a small journal, and simply putting my phone away to just be with her. It’s not about stopping time, but about making sure we appreciate the journey as it unfolds. Because truly, from baby to big girl, it all happens in a blink.
Awww so cute
