My iPad setup without buying other widget apps
I spent like an hour on all 10 of my screens but now it’s worth it.
I have a Home Screen, another home (like my literal apartment) screen with apps like cync (it turns my lights on), prime video for movies, everything health & fitness, and emails for checking in the morning. Plus a shopping screen with all my favorite store apps, a school screen with everything academia, and more.
Comment if you wanna see my other screens too! 💕
After pouring hours into perfecting my iPad setup, I realized how much it enhanced my daily life, especially for those cozy moments like watching my favorite shows in bed! If you're looking to elevate your own iPad experience, especially for streaming or just making your home screen more functional and beautiful without spending a dime, here are some of my go-to tips. First off, let's talk about creating the ultimate "Netflix in Bed" or "Streaming Sanctuary" on your iPad. While the original article mentioned Prime Video, you can easily apply these ideas to any streaming service like Netflix. I love having a dedicated media screen. You can group all your streaming apps into one folder or create a custom shortcut that opens your most-watched app directly. For ambiance, remember to leverage smart home widgets! Just like I use my Cync app to adjust my lights, you can set up a widget to dim lights or change colors, creating the perfect cozy atmosphere for movie night without even leaving your bed. Don't forget display settings like Night Shift or True Tone to reduce eye strain for those late-night binges. And for the ultimate personalized touch, consider a photo widget on your media screen displaying artwork or stills from your favorite shows, turning your iPad into a mini gallery. Next, let's tackle the idea of a "Netflix widget" and general widget mastery. While there isn’t an official Netflix widget to show what’s playing next, you can get creative! One of my favorite tricks is using the built-in Shortcuts app. You can create a shortcut to directly open Netflix or any other streaming service, and then add that shortcut as a widget to your home screen. You can even customize the shortcut's icon to match your aesthetic, giving the illusion of a custom Netflix widget! This is also fantastic for quickly jumping into your 'health & fitness' apps or even your 'school' apps like Notion or Google Classroom. The beauty of this is that you don't need any paid widget apps. Simply long-press on an empty spot on your home screen, tap the '+' in the corner, and explore the vast world of free, built-in widgets. I’ve used this method to create a personalized music screen, showing recently played songs and artist stations, which is awesome for setting the mood while studying or working. Finally, for overall iPad Home Screen Organization (even for older models like the iPad Air 2!), the key is intentionality and leveraging free iOS features. Think about your daily routine. Do you have a "work" screen with apps like Notion, Google, and your calendar? A "wellness" screen with health and fitness apps? A "shopping" screen like mine? By dedicating screens to specific functions, you reduce clutter and make navigation intuitive. Smart Stacks are your best friend here – they allow you to stack multiple widgets in one spot, saving precious screen real estate. For an aesthetic touch, use the Photos widget to create a rotating mood board, pulling images directly from Pinterest or your camera roll. Combining a weekly planner widget with a simple calendar widget can keep your schedule front and center without ever opening an app. It truly amazes me how much you can customize and organize your iPad for free, making it a powerful, beautiful tool tailored perfectly to your life. So go ahead, press down on your Home Screen, and start exploring the endless possibilities!
