tanning essentials

My number one tanning essential is sunscreen. Wear your sunscreen!!! I promise you will still be able to tan when you wear sunscreen. Sunscreen from Neutrogena is a fan-favorite, but it does leave some white cast, so make sure to really rub it in. Tanning oil doesn’t make you tan, but it does speed up the tanning process by attracting UV rays. Hawaiian Tropic Tanning Oil also includes spf and is affordable! It’s about $10 at Walmart.

The key is consistent use of broad-spectrum sunscreen, like Neutrogena Ultra Sheer, which protects from UVA and UVB rays without leaving too much white cast if applied well. One trick I swear by is to apply the sunscreen thoroughly about 15-20 minutes before sun exposure and reapply every two hours or immediately after swimming. It helps prevent sunburn while allowing gradual tanning. Adding a tanning oil like Hawaiian Tropic’s Sunscreen Oil Spray can enhance the tanning process by attracting UV rays and moisturizing the skin. This combination works well because the oil’s SPF complements the protection while giving the skin that coveted golden glow. Plus, the oil’s lightweight, cruelty-free formula keeps skin hydrated and soft. Don’t rush tanning sessions; gradually build exposure time to avoid burns. Also, always listen to your skin — if it starts to feel too warm or sensitive, it’s time to step out of the sun. Remember, tanning oils speed up pigment darkening but do not replace the need for sunscreen. Incorporating these essentials into your tanning routine, along with staying hydrated and moisturizing after sun exposure, ensures your tan lasts longer and your skin stays healthy. Affordable and accessible options from Walmart mean you don’t have to break the bank to enjoy a safe, glowing tan this summer.
