body lotion vs body butter
Body lotions and body butters are both used for moisturizing skin, but they’re slightly different. Body lotions are water-based and used for daily hydration. My favorite lotion is from EOS in Strawberry Dream, but they have so many good scents. Body butters are oil-based and a thicker consistency, which makes them more ideal for dry skin and colder climates, but any skin type can use them and it can still be used daily. If you have really dry skin, you might consider applying lotion and then a body butter after to lock in moisture. I don’t really use body butters, but I do really like the scent of the Sol De Janeiro 59 Body Butter.

From my experience, choosing between body lotion and body butter often depends on your skin type and the climate you live in. Body lotions, like the EOS Strawberry Dream with its 7 nourishing oils and butters, feel lightweight and absorb quickly, making them great for everyday use, especially if your skin is normal to slightly dry. However, when I faced colder months or had patches of very dry skin, I found that a single layer of lotion wasn’t enough to keep my skin hydrated throughout the day. That’s where body butter comes in. Its thicker, oil-based formula acts as an excellent moisture lock, offering protection against dryness caused by cold weather or harsh environments. Body butters like Sol De Janeiro 59 Body Butter have a rich texture and an amazing scent, which makes applying them feel like a luxurious treat. A little trick I use when my skin is extra dry is layering my body care — first applying a hydrating lotion such as the EOS 24H Moisture body lotion to penetrate and hydrate, followed by a generous layer of body butter to seal in all that moisture. This method prevents the lotion from evaporating and keeps my skin soft and supple all day long. If you’re new to body butters, start with small amounts and rub it gently until absorbed, since the consistency can feel heavy at first. Both products have their place in a skincare routine, and understanding the benefits of each can help you tailor your regimen for healthier skin. Remember, hydration is key, and sometimes a combination of both lotion and butter is the best solution for lasting moisture and skin comfort.
