This giant Saiyan model was made with our 1m x 1m x 1m large-format 3D printer. It was printed in sections, then assembled and finished by hand. Large models do not always need one-piece printing. With smart splitting, stable printing, and good post-processing, you can still achieve an impressive final result. We are a large-format 3D printer manufacturer.
Printing large-scale 3D models like the giant Saiyan figure mentioned requires more than just a big printer—it involves thoughtful planning and precise execution. From my own experience, the most challenging aspect is designing the model to be split into manageable sections that can be printed reliably without warping or defects. Ensuring each part fits perfectly during assembly is critical, so accurate measurements and calibration are essential. In one project, I experimented with a 1m x 1m x 1m large-format 3D printer, similar to the one used for this Saiyan model. Because printing a single massive piece is prone to issues like layer shifting and material shrinkage, dividing the model into smaller segments allowed for stable printing conditions. Each section was printed with optimal parameters for layer adhesion and surface finish. Post-processing plays a vital role too. After printing, I spent time sanding the seams and applying suitable fillers to ensure the joints disappear seamlessly. Hand-finishing also included painting and other surface treatments to bring out intricate details—all crucial for achieving a visually striking final product. Another insight is selecting the right filament material for durability and aesthetic appeal. In my case, using a strong PLA blend provided a good balance of strength and ease of use, but other applications might benefit from ABS or resin materials depending on the end-use requirements. Having the right tools and workspace set up for assembly and finishing is just as important. I recommend setting aside a dedicated area with proper ventilation, lighting, and tools like clamps and smoothing instruments to improve the workflow. Overall, large-scale 3D printing combined with smart splitting and skilled finishing can turn ambitious projects like this giant Saiyan into impressive reality, whether for industrial models, competitions, or artistic creations. The experience gained from handling such large prints greatly enhances one’s 3D printing expertise and opens doors to new creative possibilities.
