Book Review
Solid 4 star read for me!! I loved the fresh magic system going on in this series. Witches with fire magic was pretty stellar to be honest. Love a good slow burn and touch her and you wish you didn’t trope. He will literally burn the world down for her and I’m all for it!! I ate this book up and those last few chapters had me gripping the pages tight wanting to know what in the world could happen next!
Where there were times that I thought sentences or even some conversations were repeated, I was really captivated by the mysteries in the story. There are still so many secrets and things to be seen (need book 2) that I’m counting down for the next book to come out.
Great fantasy read!

Reading fantasy novels with unique magic systems is always a delight, and this book’s use of fire magic by witches adds a refreshing twist to the genre. The slow burn romance trope is expertly handled, capturing that intense possessiveness and protectiveness without feeling overwhelming. I personally enjoy when a story builds tension gradually — it makes the payoff in the climax all the more satisfying. One thing that stands out is the setting of a magical academy, which provides a rich backdrop for character development and world-building. The mix of mystery and secrets keeps readers hooked through the plot, making it a page-turner despite some small repetitions. Sometimes, recurring dialogues can help reinforce important themes or character emotions, but they should be balanced carefully to avoid redundancy. The elements of forbidden love and the 'touch her and d*e' trope add layers of danger and stakes to the romance, intensifying the emotional engagement. As someone who appreciates complex relationships in fantasy, this combination made the story compelling and immersive. For those looking for more beyond this installment, the hints at unresolved mysteries and unanswered questions build great anticipation for the sequel. It's always exciting to follow a new fantasy series that promises to expand its magic system and character arcs further. Overall, if you enjoy stories with witches, elemental magic, intricate romances, and a slow reveal of secrets, this book is definitely worth a read.
