Want to live in the country?

... Read moreMoving to the country and building our barndominium was more than just a change of address; it was a complete lifestyle transformation for me. I remember the day we first saw the land – a vast green expanse under that incredible Missouri sky. It felt like an invitation to finally live the simple life I’d always dreamed of. Giving a girl some land, truly, sparks an entire world of possibilities. The decision to go with a barndominium wasn't just about aesthetics; it was about creating a versatile, open space that could truly adapt to our evolving farmlife. We designed our barndominium with practicality and charm in mind. From the sturdy wooden beams to the expansive open-concept living area, every detail contributes to that cozy, yet spacious, country feel. And, of course, the front porch! It’s become such a central part of our daily routine, a place for quiet mornings with a cup of coffee, enjoying the fresh air, and watching the stunning sunsets with a glass of lemonade in hand. It’s where many of life's simple pleasures unfold, a true hub for simple living. Embracing farm life meant learning a lot, and quickly! Our sweet Lucy the cow quickly became a cherished family member. Caring for her, from daily feedings to just spending time in her presence, has taught me so much about responsibility and connection to nature. Then there’s Turbo, our horse – he brings such joy and a sense of purpose to our mornings. It’s not always glamorous; there are early mornings, unexpected challenges, and plenty of dirt, but the rewards are immeasurable. Waking up to the sounds of the farm, seeing the animals thrive, and knowing we’re providing for ourselves in some small way is incredibly fulfilling. Beyond the animals, we’ve also cultivated a beautiful flower farm. There’s nothing quite like walking through rows of white sunflowers, knowing you planted every seed and watched them grow. It adds so much beauty and color to our property and provides a wonderful outlet for creativity and connection to the earth. It’s another facet of the rich, simple life we’re building here. For anyone considering a move to country living, especially the barndominium route, be prepared for a wonderful journey of discovery. It’s about more than just a house; it’s about cultivating a life. The simple living motto truly comes alive here. It’s about appreciating the small moments – the warmth of the sun on your skin, the quiet rustle of leaves, the satisfaction of a day spent working the land. It’s a return to basics that has enriched my life in ways I never imagined. If you're yearning for a deeper connection to your surroundings and a life that feels authentic, I can’t recommend the barndominium and farm life dream enough. It truly is a simple life worth living.
