Imix, Oxlahun, Muluc

As the gears in the cosmic calendar turn and churn the fabric of time and space, we move into the Imix Day sign . As the universe’s mechanism causes our Sun 🌞 to rise we transition into the 13th day (Oxlahun) of this Muluc Trecena (13 day cycle).

In Maya cosmology, within the Tzolk'in calendar we encounter a day sign known as Imix (Yucatec) or Imox (K'iche), This day sign draws us beyond the ordinary into realms of the extraordinary. Imix represents the threshold to the "left side of reality," a domain where conventional understanding dissolves and unconventional possibilities emerge. It challenges perceptions of normality, encouraging expanded awareness.

Those influenced by Imix often possess heightened sensitivity to energies beyond the visible world, becoming conduits for cosmic messages. Visionaries and seers hold Imix as their guide, as it grants insight beyond time and space. However, this gift can be a double-edged sword; it treads the line between profound wisdom and delusion, between enlightenment and madness.

Imix also embodies cooperation and brings challenges, revealing the darker aspects of human nature—envy, suspicion, and hidden secrets. It connects deeply with water, symbolizing fluidity and mystery. As the nagual of the ocean and spirit of rain, Imix is represented by sea creatures like dolphins, whales, and fish, who carry its essence and remind us of life's vast, enigmatic nature. Traditionally, Imix is linked to the color red, the rising sun and the eastern horizon, signifying new beginnings. 🐬🐳🐟

Oxlahun/ Oxlajuj

The Number Thirteen

In the Tzolk'in calendar 13 symbolizes a gateway to unlock dormant psychic and spiritual powers, allowing attunement to other dimensions and future patterns. Linked to the Water Serpent God and the Underworld, it bridges the mundane and mystical.

Thirteen is reflected in the human body's major joints, which channel koyopa, or sacred life energy. It enhances divination accuracy and spiritual insights, offering deeper understanding through readings.

On thirteen days, the veil between worlds thins, making it ideal for meditation and cultivating psychic gifts. Thirteen represents the completion of life cycles, refining perception and intuition, and elevating actions undertaken on these days. Those born under thirteen often possess innate spiritual abilities, but unrecognized talents may bring challenges. It encourages embracing spiritual potential and perceiving beyond the visible.

Guardian of the 13th Day

Ometeotl, also called Omecinatl, is the Aztec deity of creation and the guiding force of the Thirteenth Day in the Trecena. Representing Oxlahun in Yucatec Maya and Oxlajuj in K’iche’ Maya, the energy of this day embodies the essence of completion and unity.

This sacred energy reflects the culmination of cycles, where endings seamlessly transition into new beginnings. It’s a time to reflect on the interconnected nature of creation and honor the balance that binds all things. Through Ometeotl's presence, we are reminded of the infinite potential that arises when completion meets rebirth, when life springs forth from death.

The cosmic date is, Oxlahun (13), the day sign is Imix of this Muluc Trecena, or in Gregorian terms, March 29th 2025.

Again I ask, what would the OG Daykeepers advise today as the energies of the Muluc trecena intertwines the energies of the Imix Day sign and the number Oxlahun (13) tone?

Today calls for deep listening—not with your ears, but with the part of you that remembers before you were born. The Muluc trecena reminds us that memory lives in the blood, in the pulse of rivers and the cycles of the moon. Imix awakens the dreamers, the visionaries, the ones who see the world before it becomes form. Thirteen, the sacred culmination of experience, cracks open the sky to reveal what lies beyond—not to confuse us, but to complete a pattern long in motion.

If our ancestors were here, they might say this is not a day for logic or rigid plans. This is a day for surrender, for honoring the voice in the silence, for noticing what ripples through your emotional waters. The inner world is wide open now, and it’s easy to get lost chasing unfamiliar shapes. But Imix doesn't ask us to chase—only to receive. And Muluc doesn’t want perfection—it asks for your trust. Your tears are a language. Your instincts are maps.

Thirteen amplifies it all. Your dreams may feel more vivid, your thoughts more scattered, your emotions like tides. Our ancestors would advise humility in the face of so much power. Pour water on the earth. Talk to your altar. Sing to the sky. Pay attention to the signs—because they’re not just coincidences today. They are instructions. The past is whispering, and if you’re still enough, you’ll hear exactly what to do next.

Reflection of the Day

There are some days when the past doesn’t feel like the past—it feels like something pulsing just beneath the surface. Today is one of those days. The energy of Imix opens a portal to the origin point, to the part of me that knew how to move without needing directions. Oxlahun amplifies that instinct to the level of soul memory. And Muluc, guiding this trecena, asks me to honor not only what I felt, but what I still carry.

I was three years old when I disappeared from my Head Start program. I didn’t just wander—I left with intention. I made my way through two city blocks of identical looking housing projects, back to my home. No one had ever walked me there. My mom always drove. Yet I found it. Not just the building, but our exact unit. That’s what stays with me. Not the fear, not even the police searching—but the knowing. That deep, mysterious knowing that led me back through something I couldn’t have possibly understood at the time.

People remember that day clearly. My mom fainted. The school was in panic. But the part that I remember most vividly—chasing her car in the street, her staying with me in class—that’s the part my mom doesn’t remember. And maybe that’s where today’s energy is pointing me: to the in-between spaces where memory, dream, and spirit overlap.

There’s something sacred in that missing time. Something about the way I moved, guided not by knowledge but by something older. Maybe it was my spirit. Maybe it was an ancestor. Maybe I just remembered something no one taught me. Under today’s energies, I don’t need to explain it. I just need to respect it.

My ancestors wouldn’t have asked, “How did you do it?” They would’ve asked, “What did you feel while you were doing it?” They would’ve seen this moment not as a problem to solve but as a sign—proof that even as a child, I was in tune with invisible forces.

Today, I’m letting that memory speak again. I don’t need to make it make sense. I just need to honor it as one of the first times I followed an inner compass stronger than reason—and arrived exactly where I needed to be.

... Read moreThe Tzolk'in calendar plays a vital role in Maya spirituality, where each day sign and number holds profound meanings. The energy of Imix invokes the connection to unseen realms and energetic sensitivity. On the 13th day, we experience a thinning veil between realities, creating an opportune time for meditation and reflection. This alignment encourages spiritual growth, enhancing intuition and providing clarity for latent abilities. Exploring the symbolism of water connects us to emotions and the subconscious, essential for understanding our inner world. Traditionally, the color red represents Imix, symbolizing vitality and new beginnings. This color and the energies of Oxlahun reinforce the significance of transitions in life’s cycles while pointing to the interconnectedness of nature and spirit. As we engage with these energies, the teachings of our ancestors remind us of the importance of intuition, trust, and reflection. Embracing the gifts of Imix invites us to listen deeper within ourselves, allowing memories and emotions to guide our understanding. The sacred interplay of life, death, and rebirth reflected in Ometeotl’s guidance underscores the balance needed to navigate our spiritual journeys. Let us honor this intricate tapestry woven from the cosmic and earthly realms as we channel these energies for introspection and growth.
