Men, Ox, Ben
As the gears in the cosmic calendar turn and churn the fabric of time and space, we move into the Men Day sign. As the universe’s mechanism causes our Sun 🌞 to rise, we transition into Ox, the 3rd day and night of this Ben Trecena (13 day cycle).
In Maya cosmology, Men is the Eagle, the sky traveler and far seer, guardian of vision, clarity, and expanded consciousness. Men invites us to rise above limitations, to see with elevated perspective, and to navigate life with wisdom and courage. This day calls on us to fly high without losing sight of the sacred purpose that roots us to Earth.
Men governs spiritual vision, leadership, and the broader view. It asks us to trust the wide horizon and the messages that come from beyond the visible. Where Ben brings strength of character and foundation, Men brings foresight and inspiration. Today, we are encouraged to open our inner eye and take flight toward our higher calling.
Men is associated with the West and the color blue. Today’s nahuales are the Eagle and the Quetzal, both symbols of divine vision and spiritual nobility. The Eagle offers the sharp gaze and courage to soar, while the Quetzal represents beauty, grace, and sacred purpose. Together, they help us glimpse the path ahead with honor and insight.
Ox
The Number Three
Known as Ox in Yucatec, the number Three activates movement, tension, and growth through challenge. It disrupts the static and demands momentum. Ox reveals what must shift and evolve. It offers friction not to overwhelm but to awaken.
In Maya numerology, Three speaks to the triadic nature of reality—mind, body, and spirit in motion. Those born under this tone carry catalytic energy. Ox asks us to grow through action, to learn from imbalance, and to initiate change where stagnation lingers.
Guardian of the 3rd Day
The deity associated with Ox is Chalchiuhtlicue, the jade skirted goddess of rivers, sacred waters, and emotional clarity. She governs the flow of feeling and the cycles of purification. Her waters cleanse and restore, nourish and confront. She teaches us that what moves within must be honored.
Today, she flows beneath the wings of Men, reminding us that even lofty vision must be grounded in emotional honesty. Let the waters of your heart inform the clarity of your sight. Let insight come not just from thought, but from what you deeply feel.
The cosmic date is Ox (3), the day sign is Men, within the Ben trecena. In Gregorian terms, this corresponds to July 1, 2025.
Again I ask What would the OG Daykeepers advise today as the energies of the Ben trecena rise with the high vision of Men and the activating movement of Ox
Today is a day to lift your gaze. Let vision pierce through distraction. Let your spirit take flight above old fears and patterns. The Eagle and Quetzal bless you with expanded awareness. Chalchiuhtlicue invites you to feel what this vision stirs in your heart.
Step forward with clarity. Speak with purpose. Move with grace. Honor what you see from above and what you sense from within.
The Tzolk’in invites evolution. The sky is speaking. Are you listening
Reflection of the Day
Lately, I’ve been seeing the Tzolk’in through a new lens. When I picked up The Quantum Revelation by Paul Levy, something clicked. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. After I started reading his book I kind of paused. I wanted to write about the overlap between quantum theory and Daykeeping, but I kept hesitating, maybe out of insecurity, or maybe I was just waiting for the right moment. Now I understand it wasn’t hesitation, it was gestation. Some truths need to ripen before they can be spoken.
The more I study the energies of the day, the more the synchronicities start stacking. One recent example was the unexpected summer rain in Denver during an Imix day. For those who follow the Tzolk’in, you’ll know Imix is a water day, a birther of rain, life, and all things primordial. To feel it in real time was like the calendar breathing, alive around me. And then, as if to drive the point deeper, Hawk appeared when we arrived at Meow Wolf. Not just any bird, but Hawks have followed me through other moments of revelation.
Hawk isn’t formally associated with Imix, but for me, he’s a trusted messenger. When I first received Bird Medicine by Evan T. Pritchard, Hawk showed up at a backyard BBQ. A few days later, he was inside my garage. His presence has become a quiet reassurance that I’m seen, that I ’m held. So seeing him again in Denver, far from home, reminded me I wasn’t alone. Even though I was surrounded by people, I felt distant, until Hawk appeared and I felt my family, my ancestors, my guides close.
Today is Men, the Eagle. And while Hawk may not be listed in the books, his message flies from the same sky. Men asks us to rise above the noise, to gain altitude and perspective, to trust the messages that come when we step into clarity. Men sees far. And with the Ox tone of movement and connection, today encourages us to act on what we’ve seen, to serve by sharing what we know. Not from ego, but from alignment.
And then there’s Ben, the reed, the path, the pillar. Ben gives us permission to walk between worlds. I realize now that I’m meant to be one of the bridges. I carry ancient knowledge in one hand and modern science in the other. I walk with sacred plants and talk openly about quantum fields. And when I doubt myself, the rains come, the Hawk arrives, the signs return.
This is the magic of living the calendar. It tunes you into a field that modern science is only beginning to describe, what quantum physicists might call non-local entanglement, Indigenous people might call ancestral presence, and I call love.
So today, I choose to speak. To write. To take flight with the messengers who watch from above. Because some visions were never meant to be kept to ourselves.
