Reflection of the Day

Today is Men, Lahun, in the trecena of Cimi — a combination that sharpens the lens on vision, integrity, and what we build beyond ourselves.

For me, the big picture is always anchored in love. My top priority has always been my wife's health and happiness. Together, we’ve changed our diets, motivated each other to move our bodies, and shared the kind of discipline that only comes from mutual respect. But we’re human, when other priorities like education take the front seat, exercise can fall back. And right now, she's back in school working toward her second master’s degree. I couldn’t be prouder of her. She inspires me every day.

This energy combination also brings up the importance of discernment, especially when it comes to who we trust with our healing. At one point, we considered couples therapy, and I even spoke with a few LMFTs. But I couldn't ignore the feeling that something was missing. I respect academic knowledge, but at some point, you have to ask, does this person really know what they’re guiding me through?

I feel the same way about psychedelic integration. A facilitator who’s only touched the light, but never walked through the dark, cannot guide someone who is drowning in grief, existential dread, or ego death. The real initiations don’t always come with beautiful colors and celestial harmonies. Sometimes they come with gut-wrenching fear, isolation, and silence. Sometimes they bring you face to face with your own death, or the terrifying idea that maybe you’re not coming back.

And yet, that’s where transformation lives. That’s where emotional breakthroughs happen. That’s where buried trauma surfaces and is finally allowed to speak. It’s where resilience is born. That’s where Men, the Eagle, invites us to rise, not just to get a better view, but to decide with clarity who we are and who we’re willing to become.

Cimi reminds us that not everyone who offers healing has done their own dying. Vet them. Ask the hard questions. Your mind, body, and spirit are sacred, and you have every right to protect them.
