Imix, Ox, Cauac

As the gears in the cosmic calendar turn and churn the fabric of time and space, we move into the Imix Day sign. As the universe’s mechanism causes our Sun 🌞 to rise, we transition into Ox, the 3rd day and night of this Cauac Trecena (13-day cycle).

In Maya cosmology, Imix is the primal water, the womb of creation, and the original dreamer. It is the cosmic source from which all life emerges, bubbling with inspiration, chaos, and boundless potential. Imix is the deep sea of possibility, where intuition speaks louder than logic and creativity flows without restraint. It encourages us to trust the mystery and allow new beginnings to unfold in their own sacred rhythm.

This day sign governs dreams, instincts, and the primordial energy of birth. Imix reminds us that even the unknown holds purpose and that surrendering to its currents can awaken latent visions and ancestral wisdom. Let yourself drift inward today, and see what sacred truths rise from your inner ocean.

Imix is associated with the East and the color red. The nahuales of the day—Whale, Dolphin, and Fish, carry the sacred intelligence of water. The Whale sings the ancient songs of memory, the Dolphin brings joy, play, and social harmony, and the Fish represents adaptability in emotional and spiritual depths. Together, they remind us to listen to the subtle tides within and follow the flow of inner knowing.

Ox

The Number Three

Known as Ox in Yucatec, the number Three is a catalytic force, the sacred triangulation that brings movement and connection. It is the spark between polarity, the bridge between intention and action. Three carries momentum, urging us forward even when the path is uncertain.

In Maya numerology, Ox invites communication, rhythm, and creative collaboration. It reminds us that life is rarely linear, and meaning often emerges through interplay. Those born under Ox often carry gifts in expression, mediation, and artistic flow.

Guardian of the 3rd Day

The deity associated with Ox is Chalchiuhtlicue, the jade-skirted goddess of lakes, rivers, and sacred waters. She governs emotional flow and compassionate cleansing. Her waters purify, her currents nourish, and her presence teaches us to let go of what we no longer need to carry. She brings healing through surrender and grace through emotional honesty.

As guardian of the 3rd day within the Cauac trecena, Chalchiuhtlicue blesses the currents of Imix with deep emotional clarity and loving release. She invites us to swim through our shadows with tenderness, and to remember that all rivers return to the sea.

The cosmic date is Ox (3), the day sign is Imix, within the Cauac trecena. In Gregorian terms, this corresponds to July 27, 2025.

Again I ask: What would the OG Daykeepers advise today as the energies of the Cauac trecena intertwine with the oceanic wisdom of Imix and the current of the Ox tone?

Today’s convergence asks us to make peace with the mystery. What wants to be born through you? Can you trust the tide of inspiration, even if you don’t yet see the shore? Let the Whale guide you through ancient depths. Let the Dolphin lighten your journey. Let the Fish teach you how to move with ease. Let Chalchiuhtlicue cleanse your doubts.

The waters remember your truth. 🌊💧

Flow with faith, and something sacred will emerge.

Reflection of the Day

Yesterday, under the light of Ahau, Ka, I spent the day with family, cooking, laughing, and pouring my love into a feast that brought us together. I started early, picking up groceries and preparing a meal from the heart: tri-tip, Cornish game hens, and BBQ beef ribs. I used everything I’ve learned over the years, baking, sous vide, smoking, grilling, not just to impress, but to show appreciation. These are the moments that make life rich. This is why I always say, family first. I love my wife’s family the way I love my own.

Today, Imix, Oxlajun came with a deep stillness. Even though I was exhausted, I kept moving, spent time with my wife, met with a friend, and reminded myself that it's okay to slow down. The sun of Ik hasn’t risen yet, so Imix still holds sway. I may be a little behind on my writing, but I’m not lost, just breathing through the pause, letting today’s energy settle into my bones. Tomorrow on Ik, I’ll rest more deeply. Tonight, I’ll continue working on the track I started recently, a sound offering, a sonic prayer born from these reflections.

Each day I work with the calendar, I feel the veil thinning, between past and present, science and spirit, quantum mechanics and the Popol Vuh. I’m learning to read the day, and in turn, the day reads me. This path is bringing me home. Every storm clears the way. Every breath is a return. And every day, my love, for this life, for my ancestors, for the Mystery, grows stronger.

🌊🐊🌞 Everything dies, but in that death is renewal, the cleansing of all that is old, tired, and ready to become something new.

... Read moreThe Maya calendar, also known as the Tzolk'in, is a sacred 260-day cycle composed of 20 day signs combined with 13 galactic numbers, producing unique energy each day. Imix, Ox, and Cauac are integral components of this intricate system, deeply rooted in Mesoamerican spirituality and cosmology. Imix represents primal water, symbolizing the wellspring of creation and the source of life. Its association with the East and the color red reflects beginnings, dawn, and vitality. The nahuales—Whale, Dolphin, and Fish—embody profound spiritual archetypes connected to water's wisdom. The Whale recalls ancestral memory; the Dolphin fosters joy and community; the Fish exemplifies emotional adaptability. These symbols highlight water's role as a conduit for transformation and intuition. Ox, corresponding to the number three, is pivotal as the catalyst for movement, rhythm, and creative synergy. In Maya numerology, the number three bridges dualities, connecting intention with action. Ox encourages communication and artistic expression, resonating with those born under its influence. Chalchiuhtlicue, the Jade Skirted Goddess, governs this day sign and embodies sacred waters' cleansing power, promoting emotional healing and release. Cauac, the 13-day trecena within which these day signs occur, symbolizes storms and purification. Its energy facilitates renewal through destruction of the old and emergence of the new, mirroring natural cycles and spiritual growth. Understanding these energies allows modern practitioners and enthusiasts to tap into ancient wisdom for personal growth, emotional clarity, and creative inspiration. Meditative practices focusing on the water elements and honoring Chalchiuhtlicue can aid in releasing stagnant energies and embracing life's flow. By integrating Maya cosmology with contemporary spiritual practice, one gains a holistic perspective on time, nature, and self. Observing and reflecting upon the daily energies—such as Imix and Ox within Cauac—provides guidance on navigating life's rhythms with trust and grace, fostering a deeper connection to ancestral heritage and universal cycles.
