✨ Bedtime Tea

About a year ago I tried to order some bulk chamomile on Amazon and accidentally ordered a tulsi/holy basil & chamomile blend.

At first I was mad, because you can't return food items and I needed pure chamomile for a project, but after a couple weeks of staring at the bag I finally gave it a try. To my surprise, it was delicious!

It has become my go-to bedtime tea now. I also add a scoop of valerian root for that extra sleepy goodness, and sometimes lavender for a little relaxation. A little drop of cream and a good book and I'm ready for sleepy time!

Just like I stumbled upon my unique blend, many of us are on a quest for that perfect brew to help us unwind. While my personal favorite involves tulsi and chamomile, I've learned that the beauty of a 'bedtime tea cozy night' ritual lies in experimenting and finding what truly calms your senses. For some, that perfect relaxing night might involve a classic peppermint or spearmint tea, known for their soothing aroma and ability to settle the stomach after dinner – making them a popular choice for winding down. The gentle warmth of a mug full of hot water infused with these fragrant leaves can instantly signal to your body that it's time to slow down. Beyond mint, the world of herbal teas offers so many wonderful options for a truly restorative evening. Chamomile, like the one in my blend, is a time-tested favorite for its gentle sedative properties. It’s like a warm, floral hug that helps ease anxiety. Then there’s tulsi, or holy basil, which I accidentally discovered and absolutely adore! It's an adaptogen, meaning it helps your body adapt to stress, and I find it brings such a peaceful calm. Adding valerian root, as I do, boosts that sleepy goodness even further, while a hint of lavender can transform the aroma into a spa-like experience. Creating that perfect 'night relaxing' atmosphere isn't just about the tea itself. It's the whole ritual. I love the simple act of pouring hot water from my favorite teapot into my mug – whether it's a plain one or a fun, themed one like my 'I'M SPOOKY ALL YEAR LONG' mug you might have seen! The steam curling up, the earthy or floral scents filling the air... it all contributes to the sensory experience. Think about what else makes your evening cozy. Is it dimming the lights, lighting a candle, putting on some soft, instrumental music? For me, it's definitely curling up with a good book. The combination of a comforting drink, a quiet environment, and something engaging to read is my ultimate recipe for unwinding. Some friends even tell me they love adding a splash of cream to their bedtime drinks, just like I do, for that extra touch of indulgence. Finding your own 'bedtime tea cozy night' routine might take a little trial and error, but it's a journey worth taking. Whether you prefer the refreshing notes of mint, the gentle calm of chamomile, or an exotic blend like mine, the goal is the same: to create a sacred space at the end of your day where you can truly relax and prepare for a restful sleep.
