HOW I ORGANIZE MY CARRY-ON ✈️
This is the best method I have found for keeping all of my things organized on a long haul flight. I keep all of my essentials organized by “themed” pouches, so I always know which one to look in. I never find myself digging for stuff in a cramped airplane seat!
I always keep these pouches packed, and restock anything needed right after a trip so when it is time to pack for the next trip the only thing I need to throw in is my headphones and kindle.
*if you take anything from this post - go get yourself the cute pink dog doodoo bag holder from Target! You will be surprised how often you find yourself reaching for a bag. I HATE when there is garbage floating all around me. This is especially helpful when you’re traveling with little kids! Dirty diapers, wipes, sticky things, soiled clothes, etc….

As a frequent traveler, I understand the struggle of trying to keep everything organized in a small carry-on, especially when it comes to those crucial travel size toiletries. For me, an organized toiletries kit is the secret weapon against mid-flight chaos and a major contributor to a stress-free journey. I've developed a system that ensures I always have what I need, right when I need it, without rummaging through my bag in a cramped airplane seat. My approach revolves around dedicated, themed pouches, and the toiletries pouch is arguably the most vital. Inside, I break it down further to make sure every item has its place. For oral hygiene, I always pack a travel-sized Colgate Wisp, a small tube of Max Fresh toothpaste, and a few pieces of Orbit Spearmint gum. Feeling fresh after a long flight can truly turn your mood around, and having these readily accessible makes all the difference. Skincare and comfort are equally important. The dry airplane air can wreak havoc on your skin, so I make sure to include a refreshing facial spray, like the MARIO BADESCU SKIN CAR FACIAL SPRAY WITH ALOE AND GREEN TEA, to hydrate my skin throughout the flight. A rich lip balm, a small tube of L'OCCITANE hand cream, and a tiny LANEIGE sleeping mask for lips are also non-negotiables. And for tired, dry eyes, a small bottle of VISINE is a savior. These aren't just luxuries; they're essentials that make a long journey much more pleasant. Health and general hygiene also get their own dedicated section within my travel size toiletries kit. Aquaphor Advanced Therapy for dry, cracked skin is a must-have, especially on longer trips. I also carry a small pack of CLOROX Disinfecting Wipes or similar AdhereTechə WIPES to quickly clean my tray table, armrests, and anything else I might touch. A compact packet of Kleenex is always useful. And speaking of hygiene, I can't emphasize enough the utility of having a small roll of dog doodoo bags. Seriously! They are fantastic for keeping garbage contained – wrappers, used tissues, even sticky items. It's a simple trick that keeps your personal space tidy and prevents trash from accumulating around you. To ensure maximum organization and efficiency, I follow a few key tips for assembling my toiletries kit. Firstly, I always opt for clear pouches. This makes it incredibly easy to see everything at a glance, both for me and for security checks. Secondly, I invest in good quality travel-size containers or decant my favorite products into reusable ones. This saves space and prevents potential leaks. I also place any liquid or cream bottles into small zip-top bags as an extra layer of protection against spills. Lastly, I keep the most frequently used items, like lip balm or hand cream, right at the top or in an easily accessible front pocket of the pouch. This thoughtful organization transforms the travel experience, allowing you to relax and enjoy your journey knowing every essential is perfectly in place.
